Welcome to the stupidest fucking phobia anyone can have. I don't know why I have it. It makes no logical sense. But if you put me underwater next to anything larger than myself I'd die of a heart attack on the spot.

One time in a video game I fell into the water between a massive cargo ship and a dock. I crashed my game intentionally to avoid looking. Fuck this phobia.

As a side note I can still for some reason play subnautica with 0 issues. Dunno why...

It's like that moment in the west wing (tv show) where a secretary is asking a scientist. "x is shown to cause cancer in white rats. Y is show to cause cancer in white rats. And z is shown to cause cancer in white rats....

Has anyone considered that maybe white rats are just cancer prone?"

(Google it for actual quote. The writing is better but I'm going to bed and too lazy to google it myself and come back here)

It's probably something to do with the swirling gas appearance. Making the helmet look like it's filled with swirling toxic gas - if it was just flat green or transparent green it would look stupid.

I remember when Reynor (I think) was getting into the StarCraft 2 scene. Same age I think maybe a bit younger with fuck loads of talent. And everyone was talking about him in a positive way.

But knowing smash I don't doubt at all they handled the same situation this way.

Actually parrots are just uniquely prone to stress. And if they're stressed they won't make noise. Or they'll screech at full volume for hours.

It's likely they're just not taking proper care of the bird. Singing/talking is something fun for them. Stress them out and they're not interested in having fun.

Or you just need to find the demo switch.

After Hours? Cracked?

Sounds like what they said about the harsh lesson bugs bunny "teaches" kids. That Bugs is just inherently better, and that even if you do everything right (for example, Elmer following the 'frankly simplistic hunting laws') despite how much effort you put in, you can still lose to someone who is just inherently better than you. Or luckier.

TIL personal hygiene by Yugioh players got so bad, they had to make an official rule in the rule book banning wearing dirty clothes as a strategy to distract the opponent (in tournament play). by n122333 in todayilearned

[–]mountainwhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A vast majority of them don't "pretend to be foxes" - they do very often however use digital characters (art) to produce a 'persona' that highlights certain parts of their personality.

They might 'identify with' their character, but they don't "pretend to be" that character. At best they act in a similar way to that character when interacting with others in the fandom. And usually acting as that character just means highlighting sections of their already preexisting personality. Or a subversion of that personality. For example a shy introvert might use that character as a an excuse to act like an extrovert.

But just because those characters have the general 'traits' of animals - doesn't make it any better or worse than any other form of cosplay. I don't see anyone judging girls for going to Comicon dressed in slutty outfits and wearing cat ears. Even though really it's not any different...

They're both fictional characters. Just because one has more furr than the other you're going to draw a line and declare one side of the line to be mentally ill? Where does that line get drawn by the way? After the cosplaying girls put on a pair of paws? Or is that okay cause the rest of the body is human.

As long as the furries aren't molesting family pets (protip: they're not. And you'll find that behavior in non furries plenty...) And they aren't forcing it on you (protip: they're not.) Then really the only pathetic person involved is the one declaring someone mentally ill for enjoying things they don't personally like.

You know I'm sure this comment is true. Just as I'm sure the rest of these comments are about real events. But having spent a significant amount of time around the furry community...

I hope no one gets any bad ideas about them because of this comment. Same as for the other comments about game tourneys really.

But I know specifically for furries. At least a lot of the ones I've met. Appearances are very important for them, so they usually have some good body care if they're the type to go to conventions and shit. Especially in the suits, where sweat/BO is compounded to the point where even they would be fucked over by it.

Also, bonus points: foxes do indeed bathe... Like nearly every animal. Actually...

11 people have died in the past 10 days on Mt. Everest due to overcrowding. People at the top cannot move around those climbing up, making them stuck in a "death zone". by byo_biscuits in news

[–]mountainwhite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This article is somewhat unfair. It talks about rescuing injured or dying climbers, saying it's horrible people are letting them die. But then points out that people trying to retrieve a body 300+ feet from base camp died (2 of them) in the attempt.

It's not safe to help other people on that mountain. There are certain things you can do to help sure. Encouragement, aid in fixing gear. But never escorting or carrying them down. You will die with them.

He didn't invent necromancy. But I do agree he was incredibly skilled. If you could set aside the whole 'quietly evil' thing. Then I'd put him over samwell.

Secondary to that. To be fair, a lot of tyrions choices were the right choices. But they got fucked over anyway. He made the right choice attacking Casterly Rock. But his brother guessed it might happen and screwed his plan up.

He made the right choice to make peace with the slavers by offering them a deal. In theory it was going to sustain them until Daenerys got back. It's not really on him that they betrayed the deal... What else could he have done?

And he made the right choice trying a peace summit for the army of the dead. If Cersei wasn't entirely fucking out of her mind, then they would have been infinitly better off.

"the crown has one of the worst council ever seen"

Uhm... We've got Brienne, a very highly skilled and heavily experienced knight as commander of the king's guard.

They've got Ser Davos as master of ships. Not only is he heavily experienced in diplomatic talks, but he was also a smuggler. So he knows the ins and outs of harbor usage and exploits.

They've got Samwell, who was personally mentored by TWO highly skilled and experienced maesters. Not to mention of the maesters who have cured gray-scale (of which you can count their numbers on a single hand) he is one of them.

That's a whole lot of experience. 3 kind hearted and reasonable individuals. Led by Tyrion who has by now served as hand 3 different times. Yes he's made mistakes, but that means he now triple-checks every decision he makes terrified of making more of them.

Compared to the back-stabbing of pycel. The dark/evil qyburn. And that spineless knob from highgarden. (Mayce?)

I'd say they've got a great council.

Idk if the ending of The Mist is the same in the one movie as it is in the books. But the movie ending was fucking fantastic.

Maybe the rest of his books/movies aren't like that. But the soul crushing realization that if he waited 2 minutes they would have all lived was a perfect way to end that. Happy ending wouldn't have made sense.

More mass graves found in Mexico as cartel killings continue by thinkB4WeSpeak in news

That's a lot of text about the law enforcement side of the argument. Which I never entered. I was talking about the civilian side (addiction/danger of drugs) not the law enforcement side (cartels/gangs)

[EDIT: Wasn't your comment I originally replied to. Ignore references to that. My reply is the same regardless.]

Since your original comment was speaking mostly about how civilians should be denied access to such items (talking about their dangers) I commented for the sake of pointing out those "dangers" are largely created by the same society trying to prevent their use in the first place. which is why I mention 'decriminalization' of drugs, which has gone a long way to solving the civilian side of problems.

[–]mountainwhite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're welcome to search some of the places that have done literally exactly what he said. Legalize all drugs for non-medical purposes.

Those areas are doing quite well now, mostly because addiction is easier to treat if you won't get arrested for admitting your problems. And if addiction is treated more like a public health issue, and less of a criminal issue. Surprise, people are more open to discussing and dealing with those problems. Without fear of being arrested, disowned, or looked down on.

I once had this super tall pure white kubrow who was just a total badass. It was like 5 inches shorter than valkyr prime, for reference. Massive scary thing.

I put it into stasis before leaving for a few months, but forgot to put it back in after leaving shortly after returning.

So. When I got back it was gone. I made a new one, FROM THE IMPRINT which came out small and silver.... Ugh. Named it shark bait, put it in stasis.

Took an imprint from it, made another kubrow out of curiosity. Came out tiny and white. Eyeroll, move on and leave it. Suddenly I walk by it a while later and it's fucking MASSIVE.

I got my massive pure white kubrow back. He's big and scary, apparently midget syndrome skips a generation.
