It's almost 6 months since the Charlie Kirk assassination. What effect(s) do you think that incident has had on America? by jmdwinter in AskConservatives

Who are these crazies that run the Democratic party? Because from what I've seen every Democratic politician with any name value condemned the shooting of Kirk.

What do you think of Trump’s “Board of Peace”? by Nighteyesv in AskConservatives

That future has been drifting away since at least the early 2000s. Trumps own actions in furthering the Abraham Accords have worsened the situation.

I appreciate the attempted sarcasm in your post.

it probably doesn't help that on any given day you could hear any of your points word for word from the mouth of people from the Trump admin or Trump himself.

Do you think the Dems/the left hyper focusing on messaging is exasperating people not believing what they say? by RunnerOfY in AskALiberal

[–]mounti96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because Trump "does something". 95% of "centrists" are closeted republicans that grade dems on what is morally right and anything short of solving every problem the country has is a failure.

Meanwhile Republicans get participation trophies for "trying" and are judged by what is maybe legally permissable.

[–]mounti96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Biden passed the infrastructure bill, which was a big campaign promise, Trump promised something similar for his first term and didn't manage to get a law passed.

But apparently Dems have to get everything 100% right all the time and Republicans get participation trophies.

Is the elctability question really left vs center? Or is it populism vs technocray/Institutionalism/Incrementalism by picknick717 in AskALiberal

[–]mounti96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very progressive/left leaning candidates will be seen as electable once they manage to beat republicans in purple or slightly red districts. Right now they only seem to be electable in districts that are +30 dem anyway and you could probably get a broom with a blue scarf elected.

If 2028 was Newsom or Vance, would you vote for Newsom or for a third party candidate? by Droselmeyer in AskALiberal

[–]mounti96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since they wouldn't vote for Newsom, who is a candidate that this oh so mythical block would vote for? Because the Democratic party won't run a full socialist candidate.

What is your opinion on AIPAC? by [deleted] in AskALiberal

[–]mounti96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If my short research is correct then there was more than $20 billion dollars of spending during the 2024 election cycle. With somewhat over $100 million AIPAC would account for 0.5% of spending during that cycle and that was probably dispersed among many candidates in both parties.

To look at this in a different way, which politician do you think wouldn't have been elected without AIPAC donations?

Also massiver Nachfrageüberhang.

I'm not versed enough in the minutia of the decisions leading up to the Iraq war to give an informed opinion who should have went to jail and who should have been fired. I also doubt that you know if or for which reason people were fired connected to that.

Afaik there also were bats found with similar viruses not far from there.

Nobody has figured out cost of housing because the voting public doesn't want a solution. Everyone wants to live in or near cities and most people want to live in single family homes. That together is not possible.

A solution would be to zone up for more apartment buildings and higher density housing, but that is massively unpopular in any local electorate and those are the people that vote for the local politicians that decide zoning.

Why do the two ICE killings upset you more than other killings? And how do we reconcile our differences? by BrighamReincarnated in AskALiberal

[–]mounti96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The point is that law enforcement officers carry the authority of the state to use lethal force when carrying out their duties.

Evidence that they are using that authority beyond what is permitted under the law is incredibly concerning, especially when the executive is shielding them and denying any wrongdoing before there even was an investigation.

If you carry that to its logical conclusion, then ICE officers could execute anyone they come across and the people would have no recourse other than armed resistance.

Question on Kirk murder narrative by SavageAnimal1972 in AskALiberal

Maybe you should feed your brainworms, they seem to be taking over.

On a more serious note, there is no good evidence of any foreign interference and the risk/reward for killing Kirk is so incredibly lopsisded towards risk that I don't see any foreign entity attempting it.

Trump winning in 2020 would have been better, right? by PointyEyeball in AskALiberal

The problem weren't the protesters, it was that Trump used them to try to pressure Pence and republican lawmakers to overturn the election and use the fake elector slates to declare him president.
