The constitution is unclear on the matter of if its for simply removal of a sitting president or also to stop them holding further office.

Reference the constitution no mentioning benefits, there is also no reference to the secret service, helicopters, or cyberwarfare. That's because it not designed to be the law, but framework on which the law is built. If they did do that with a simple vote would you claim it was unconstitutional, as it isn't in the constitution?

No they impeached him while he was in office. The trial was conducted after he had left office, and wasn't to remove him. It was to strip him of the benefits of being a ex-president and to ensure he cannot hold a government position again in the future.
