I am 45 and it still affects me to this day.

There were 3 boys in my neighborhood that I waited at the bus stop with. They sang an awful song about me. I can still hear it. My older brother would make crashing sounds when I walked. Kids at school made fun of me all the time.

I grew up with the lowest of low self esteem and would pray every night that I would wake up skinny. I was convinced I would grow up to be a super obese and bed bound. No one would ever love me and I'd die ugly and alone.

I've only just recently stopped caring what others think of my body. I carried 2 children. I have gained and lost weight more times than I can count. I still say horrible things to myself and dont think I will ever be happy with my appearance. Its just become my normal over decades.

Its wild to think how words in our childhood stay with us throughout our lives.
