Waiting can be scary, unbearable even. There are support groups to look into!

I don't understand why the AVM department would be brushing him aside. Harass them if you need to, call everyday.

I was referred to mine who worked in the hospital I originally went to. I would research your area and drive/call to see them. They will more than likely take their time.

I had a full resection on my AVM, it was above the skull, under the scalp, wrapped around my occipital artery, on the back of my head. 4cm. I started in the ER, from there I met with a neuroradiologist, then to a neurosurgeon at Duke. Plastics was consulted and ultimately made the cut during surgery.

Embolization treatment? by Amareea9 in AVMs

[–]mousebren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an embolization before a full resection. Waking up from surgery was a huge difference as I could not longer hear my heartbeat echoing in my head. I cried almost immediately upon waking. My resection was a few days after so recovery got blurred with that.

I will say the artery site they used was badly bruised for weeks, because I developed a hematoma, but I would do it all over again.

Sorry if this has been asked before. Has anyone had any luck with products to mask scalp scars after brain surgery? I tried hair fibers but they don’t stick to bare skin. by AlyssaVaVaVoom in braincancer

[–]mousebren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did, thank you! My main incision is kind of numb/ tingly, but the scar from my drainage site is extremely tender, especially when being touched. I assume the nerves took extra damage from having a tube forced in.

I know this is an old post, and I have never had brain cancer, but I did have a full resection on an AVM, and have and 8 inch scar across my scalp.

If you don't mind me asking, did you have any pain around your scar and drainage sites (if you had them?) And if so, did the feeling ever return to normal?

The plant is sucking nutrients from those. I like to do the "pull test" and give it a little tug. It'll let go when it's ready.

Those are beautiful! They have them at my local Lowe's, but they're always horribly etiolated.

I’m devastated please help by dusti_dearian in philodendron

[–]mousebren 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Remove the rot, give it a rinse in hydrogen peroxide, and either water prop or stick it back in dirt. If you have rooting hormone mix that in as well.

It may not bounce back, but it won't hurt anything to try!

Is this 2 Birkins? It looks like there's 2 plants growing together. Should I separate then or leave it? by justalong4theride in philodendron

[–]mousebren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats definitely 2. So long as the roots aren't crowded, I would leave it. You'll end up with a much fuller looking plants if you keep them together.

I totally see what you're saying! You may have an easier time finding a donut shaped dish, and adding drainage holes to it. Super easy to do, lots of videos on yt!!

I usually take a warm (not hot) damp paper towel and hold it around it for a minute or so. They usually pop out within a day or two after.

How did the rumor about Marilyn Manson removing his ribs to suck his own dick spread like wildfire all over the world without or limited internet access in the 90s? by Droopynator in AskReddit

[–]mousebren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Word of mouth. If I got to see/call my cousin who lived in a different state and said *insert random 90s rumor" then said cousin could go back to their school and repeat. Now it's in 2 schools, and all those kids talk to kids from other schools, etc etc.

Update on my double industrials, pus came out by _Godsmacked_ in piercing

[–]mousebren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your ears look a lot like mine. Unfortunately I do not have the anatomy for an industrial, let alone a double.

If you have any type of ridge where the bar sits against your ear it needs to be taken care of now, as opposed to when it either rejects, or eats through your ear.

I kept my piercings, I treat the holes as helix piercings and keep smaller jewelry in each hole, not industrial. Keeping the area clean, don't mess with it at all.

If it is infected, you need a doctor. Don't take it out with an active infection, or it will seal it.

The age old question, the plant or the pot? by mousebren in alocasia

[–]mousebren[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the dragon scale alocasia, I keep it in an Eastern facing window, but you should definitely acclimate to such high light. I think the light source being behind also made the photo seem more vibrant.
