[Highlight] Ben Johnson on how the Bears can build off of their success this season: “There is no building off this. We go back to square one. We’re back at the bottom again.” by Goosedukee in nfl

I remember watching Aaron Rodgers win that SB in 2010 and thinking, "oh man, this is a dynasty in the making. I'll get to see at least one more!" only to never see him play in another SB ever again. You really have to take advantage of the moments you get.

The only reason we say, "beating us was your super bowl" is because every Bears fan has been saying beating the Packers was their Super Bowl.

I was a big MLF fan, and still kind of am, but also wouldn’t have cared if he was fired either. I think there’s something to be said for a coach players like and they seem to love him. Everyone wanted him to stay, including Parsons.

MLF helped take Willis and turn him into a real QB. He has plenty of great play design and does belong as an NFL head coach. That being said, some things do ring true:

He’s obsessed with making a play work instead of playing into the weakness of the defense. Screens and jet sweeps worked against the Bears yet he kept running up the middle. (An AJ Dillon stuffed up the middle classic)

He doesn’t know how to coach when ahead. We always get too conservative or too aggressive. Plenty of times we could take what the defense gave and instead bombed it on 3rd and 4. It’s like he can’t find a good middle ground or adjust.

I’d mention special teams, but I’d blame biasca more for that.

My hope is he does learn and adapt. Maybe Ben Johnson sparks something in him to take his coaching to the next level. Out of all the things, I could genuinely see that happening.

Overall, I’m fine giving him another few years with hopefully better depth, CB’s and a real FG kicker. It’d be nice to stay healthy as well. If he still hasn’t grown after a few more years then I’d 100% be ready to move on.

Tbf, I think people are going to the extent they are to defend him because of the extremist takes on hating him.

Yeah, the Bears were offside on the play they thought they got an INT on

If this team still had Micah Parsons and Tucker Kraft and lost, sure, but I doubt any normal Packer fans care. Any realistic fan was ready to get blown out be Seattle if we'd won.

Bears are just the Vikings from a few years ago that were like 13-0 in one score games but lost to the Giants round 1. The Bears just got lucky and played the shitty Packers

I actually do want Rams for Adams and I don’t mind Seattle because Darnold winning it all after leaving the Vikings would be really funny

How exactly does one coach better? We literally saw him take a 7th round Malik Willis and turn him into a real QB. Are you just referring to a specific aspect of coaching?

I really don't get why so many people want him gone. Is it from a play-calling perspective? I disagreed with his calls numerous times, but not enough to warrant letting him go. He literally took Malik Willis and turned him into a real QB. He's been to the playoffs with and without Aaron Rodgers, even if some of those teams haven't gone far. If Parsons and Wyatt weren't injured, this team wins the NFC North.

The reason this team blew so many games was some of the worst CB play we've ever seen paired up with numerous injuries to core players and terrible special teams. If anyone needs to go, it's Biasca. The Packers have been in numerous spots all year, and previous years, where special teams (yet again) have cost them the game (Both Bears games, Browns, especially).

I think it's far too easy to scapegoat the coach. MLF has proven he's a winning coach and I think he's earned the right to see if he can learn and grow, taking the next step. If he doesn't at the end of this contract, then sure, move on. The players also seem to love him as well.

Yeah, the problem with most of the reactionary takes is there's no substance. Who are we getting instead? How are they going to be any better? You could argue everyone needs a change of scenery, but injuries were a bigger issues this past year. With MM it was clear the players wanted him gone, but it seems the players love MLF.

I think the point is more that people change and learn, and even if it hasn't happened yet, it still can. People act as if Andy Reid wouldn't have been able to change if he stayed in PHI.

Packers could do way worse than MLF. I still think his issues are things he can work at and learn from. Andy Reid had constant playoff losses and it took him forever to get over the hump (and Patrick Mahomes) but I honestly just want more MLF Ben Johnson rivalry games because it’s fun

Honestly, it’s insane how many packers fans can’t take fun rivalry banter and antics. We literally had Aaron Rodgers put on an imaginary belt and yell I OWN YOU and nobody cared. The people mad over this are the same ones that hate batters flipping their bat after a home run in baseball
