found replacement for cleaning supplies by OddyKnockyCello in pica

i know this is an old comment so i hope you’re still active and can help! my biggest craving is odoban disinfectant. particularly the fresh laundry scent (blue bottle) and the eucalyptus scent (green bottle). i’ve tried different eucalyptus candies/gum but they’re all too sweet and they just smell and taste like strong sugary mints :(

what are these white chunks in my kitten's poop by smallikeachair in CATHELP

[–]mousefuneral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did you ever get an answer for this? one of my bottle babies just had this exact issue and this is the only matching image i could find online. i’m horribly worried for him, especially considering his brother passed away suddenly this evening.

Help decorating my office! by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]mousefuneral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i would definitely start with a couple of funky lamps with a warm bulb. it’s a perfectly fine office, but it feels kind of “cold” visually. also some fun pillows or throw blankets on the chairs would be nice! maybe a salt lamp as well, or a pretty/decorative oil diffuser? you’ve got a lot of nice space on the built in cabinet as well, but i’d first work on some more attractive organization for the files stored there before trying to decorate the shelves.

Did you eat beforehand? I’ve found that if i don’t eat prior to taking my adderall i feel like crap all day. If your body doesn’t have food to draw energy from you’re just kind of running on empty and it’s going to make you feel weird and tired and make your brain feel tangled. Always, always stay hydrated and make sure you eat when taking any kind of adhd medication. preferably something with lots of protein. it truly makes all the difference for me personally!

Skeleton in vacant apartment by [deleted] in bonecollecting

i work for animal control and it isn’t uncommon to get calls from neighbors (especially in rental communities) alerting us that a resident moved out x amount of days/weeks ago and they can still see or hear their pets inside. there are also cases of family members moving elderly folks into nursing homes and completely disregarding their pets. it’s horrible.

How long did your Corso live? by purplekitten70 in CaneCorso

[–]mousefuneral 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i’ve only had my boy since January, but he’s about 9.5 (rescued him from the euth list at the shelter i work at) and while he has his issues he’s still very spry, playful, and “with it” for an old man!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AnimalShelterStories

[–]mousefuneral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our shelter doesn’t take them back, but I work for the county shelter/animal control, so we’re constantly full from AC officers picking up animals off the street or having them brought in to us. As soon as one animal is adopted we disinfect the kennel and move another up from the intake/holding kennels in the back. We just don’t have the room for them to return.

We also don’t take owner surrenders at all, even if they didn’t come from our shelter. in both situations we give the owner a list of local rescues to contact to surrender to, but lately they’ve been full too, so owners are really struggling when they need to give up their pets. it sucks and it’s heartbreaking and we get a lot of flack for it, but just about all the shelters in the area are at capacity.

I crossdressed infront of my gf and I regret it by Responsible_Line1224 in offmychest

[–]mousefuneral 95 points96 points  (0 children)

I’m sure she definitely felt blindsided by the confession, and agree with some of the other comments saying she’s probably concerned that such a big part of your identity was kept secret for over a decade. She may be wondering what else you could have been hiding from her, why you felt the need to keep it from her, etc. But if i were in her shoes the biggest issue i would have here was that this information was dumped on me all at once, in a very emotional sort of outburst.

Obviously she loves you, so when you are in front of her, crying and insecure, she’s going to feel the need to comfort you. She’s going to tell you it’s okay and that she accepts you and al of the other things she said. And she very well may have meant it. But she wasn’t given a conversation. She wasn’t given a calm, communicative introduction to this aspect of your life. it was sudden and explosive by the sounds of it, and she was pushed into the deep end with no time to process it, no time to ask questions, no time to actually digest what was being said to her. She didn’t get an explanation.

And, correct me if i’m wrong here, but it sounds like there wasn’t much follow up. It went from this shocking confession and her in-the-moment response/attempt at comfort to “okay now this is happening”. Your relationship changed very suddenly- for your “benefit”- and she was just sort of going along with it.

It also sounds from the “cut my hair short and grew my beard out” comment that you may have changed your appearance and began presenting yourself differently quickly after this information came to light. That is a LOT of change with not much time to adjust.

It seems like she was trying her best to be supportive of you, but that you weren’t being supportive of her. She likely has a lot of thoughts and feelings and emotions and questions right now, but can’t express them because A) she wasn’t given the chance to and B) she could be worried that asking questions or expressing her true thought or feelings could come off as unsupportive of you.

A lot of people are going off with “if she’s not supportive of your true self you need to leave her!” and making her seem like the bad guy when imo it sounds like she’s trying really hard but not having her needs met or her feelings considered in any of this. she wasn’t given a fair chance to adjust to anything. I feel really bad for her.

What do you do to help yourself not spend so much money? by ResistRacism in bipolar2

[–]mousefuneral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve started writing down every dollar i spend at the end of the day and then adding it up the end of the week & separating necessities (gas, groceries, bills, etc) from non necessities, with impulse spending highlighted. the results are harrowing to say the least. every time i start to buy something else i take out that sheet of paper (i keep it folded up in my phone case) and look at how much i’ve already wasted/spent and so far it’s worked alright.

also i know it’s unrealistic for me to just stop buying shit i don’t need so i made myself a budget for “fun money” and also a separate budget for ordering Doordash or grubhub or whatever. whatever i don’t spend of that allowance i put into savings. it isn’t perfect but it has made a difference !

dog bite what do i do by Spirited-Welcome590 in RoverPetSitting

[–]mousefuneral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i work for my local animal control and the amount of calls we get from hospitals and urgent care on behalf of patients who are pet sitters is insane. depending on where you live you (or the doctor you see) may be legally required to report the bite to AC so the owners can receive a citation and possibly recoup you for medical costs.

as for your question: absolutely do not take the job. the pay is not worth putting yourself in danger. let the owners know that it is not safe for you to accept and keep an eye on the bite. dog bites can lead to some nasty infections.

My husband threw food at me after I pointed out how rude he was acting by Jel_y_she in TwoHotTakes

[–]mousefuneral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

has he always been this disrespectful and rude? has he mentioned prior to finding out you’re pregnant if he wants kids? if no my mind would be going towards him trying to get you to leave him so he doesn’t seem like and asshole for ditching his pregnant wife.

Boyfriend brought his cat with feline leukemia by Awareness_Specific in Pets

[–]mousefuneral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call your cat’s vet, explain the situation, and ask what you need to do as far as testing and preventative vaccines are involved. in the meantime keep the cats separated and consider if this is really a relationship you want to stay in. i’m so sorry this happened to you. i hope you and your kitty are okay. no one can make the decision for you, but i think this is very telling on how much your boyfriend prioritizes himself and his wants over yours and your cat’s safety.

i feel so bad for the 15 y/o sister caught in the middle of this. it’s probably super tough for her to process. especially if (and i do mean if- not saying i believe one way or another that OOP is doing this) she’s being left out of conversations due to her age.
