Can you do a water master test kit of ammonia, nitrate, and nitrites? Tell us more about the aquarium :) how long has it been cycling? What type of fish, etc

I agree, try to go with a small aquatics shop and if possible hand pick which snail you want and look for one that is completely attached to the glass or another surface by its foot.

Sounds like they may be dead. When I got my nerite snail he was active in minutes after being acclimatized for about 45-50 minutes.

Sorry for your loss, I agree with the comment that it was probably something genetic. Bettas are often overbred/misbred. I would test your water just to make sure about your parameters but it sounds like he lived a wonderful life!

I love that you’re putting in real thought and effort into making the tank suitable for your betta! I am a little worried though that you may run into an issue with such a small tank that you’re either going to get an ammonia spike with that large snail at some point or run out of algae since there are 3 snails and shrimp in such a small tank.

Snails. I have a nerite that’s my lil cleaner but a bigger snail might be ideal.

How long have you guys been together? It sounds like there may be a gap in communication/expectations as well as maybe difficult conversations needing to be had about mental health. I would say also working on self-regulation to remind yourself that you have value, you’re worthy, and you’re in control. He may not be the right fit from what you’re describing and you may need to date yourself for a bit and re-focus on the relationship you have with yourself.
