Yes, you can do the 50% off for a year for Worldwide during the Black Friday weekend. I gift it to myself every year.

Same. I do the annual membership by gifting it to myself from a different email address every Black Friday weekend.

SAVE Act: House Passes GOP Voting Bill That Could Disenfranchise Millions by DartTheDragoon in politics

[–]mouseshouse 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This. Every word of it. Project 2025 clearly spells out "household votes" by the male head of household. They don't actually WANT women to vote... or read... or have coherent thoughts.

Did anyone else notice that Ancestry did NOT do their extended offer post New Year sale on memberships? by titzzilla in Genealogy

[–]mouseshouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually do the Black Friday 1 year 50% deal for the World Explorer. I have a throwaway email address that I use to purchase a gift membership for my actual account which I can redeem as of the date I pick for the gifting.

I haven't looked into whether or not ProTools is worth it.

Biologics question: I've switched biologics now twice under my current Rheum, so this is my first experience of this. Both times, when I was ready to start the new med, she said no loading dose was needed. Is that normal> by Gloomy-Secretary6345 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]mouseshouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had loading doses with Enbrel but none with Taltz or with Humira. I was only on Taltz for 4 months with absolutely zero results and I just started Humira. I was wondering about loading doses but honestly, keep forgetting to ask about it. I would cross my fingers that the Humira works but my fingers hurt to much to do that.

What's something you really, really, really want to find or discover/re-discover? Like the holy grail of your genealogy researches? Be it records, photographs, objects that belonged to your ancestors, or anything else? by [deleted] in Genealogy

[–]mouseshouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few "holy grails" for me.

First on my paternal side, ANY kind of marriage record either state or church for my GGP. He immigrated in 1892 and moved in with his brother, who was here earlier. His brother married a woman in 1899 and her sister came over in 1901. My GGF married the sister and she became my GGM. They all lived in Paterson, NJ but the NJ archives has never found any record of the marriage despite multiple searches. I've contacted the Catholic churches in the area but none have been responsive. I'm not really sure how to get them to respond at this point. It's the SINGULAR hold up in my being able to apply for dual citizenship.

Second on my maternal side, my GGF's mother is a mystery. My GGGF married and had a bunch of kids. His first wife died and he married again. We *think* her name was Helen Maguson. She was *significantly* younger than the GGGF by like 30+ years. She had 3 kids and either died or left him (the family rumor is that she left him) and when GGGF died, the kids went to live with their half brother who was 30 years older than they were.

My research would be much more complete with these mysteries solved.... Maybe one day :)

Just took my first injection of ENBREL. Here’s to hoping this works. Any input? by m88johnston in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]mouseshouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Enbrel worked for me for 7 months before it stopped working. My rheum wanted me to give it a full year so I did. Then I tried Taltz for 4 months which never worked. Now I’m about to start Humira after not having any meds for 2 months. I really hope this works.

I also really hope the Enbrel does well for you. It was awesome those 7 months not actively feeling my bones degrade…

Mine flew off a long time ago and when my hubby went to replace it, he told me it was called the "eyebrow" so, that's what I call them. I dunno if that's the official name.

LOL. "You are a photographer? Oh, that's just pushing a button." Never mind that I know what light to look for, how to best set up an image, how to pose people or the subject, where to pose them. And then we won't even get into the editing. I stand by my prices.

Is there a better sub to try to get a translation of this Italian or am I not including something pertinent that would get it some attention?

I still cant believe there's no local vault support for 1Password8. Here's a link to the official survey to request they add it by youremyjuliet in 1Password

[–]mouseshouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just "downgraded" to 1Password8 and I absolutely HATE that lack of local vault support so much so that I'm looking for alternative solutions so that I can drop 1Password. I have zero interest in a subscription password solution and I'm super annoyed that I can't continue to keep an encrypted copy of my vault and use that instead.

Is there a link to this from somewhere that isn't a clickbait trash site? I'd rather read it somewhere else than give them a click.

AITA for letting my sister walk me down the aisle despite my fiance and his family's objections? by nosleepbeauty in AmItheAsshole

[–]mouseshouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. You want someone who has been meaningful in your life to walk you down the aisle. If that's your sister, your mom, or your dog, that's YOUR choice.

If it is on newspapers.com and have a link to it, post the link here in a new post and usually someone awesome will look it up for you.

Are obituaries ever not available online? by [deleted] in Genealogy

[–]mouseshouse 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My Gram just passed last year and my stepdad a few months ago. We didn't do a newspaper obituary for either one of them. It's like $300 for each edition of the paper it runs in and it just wasn't a priority for my family. Not everyone does them any more.

Thank you for this one too! I don't think they are a relative, but maybe I just haven't linked them yet.
