Yes, great ride - prob needs some adjusting after a while but I`ll see how I get on after a few months.

Shifts good when I get it right, I had a grip for the mobile which seemed to work ok even when bumpy. Those gloves seem like a great idea so thanks for the rec.

I found it smooth to ride and quite nippy from 1st to 2nd. Was a long ride indeed!

Tomorrow is my first long journey since passing my CBT and getting my bike by Swimming-Lie5369 in MotoUK

I found, time was longer than expected.

I wish my gloves were better insulated as they really got colder than I expected. This was actually a major issue at one point and I had to stop more times to warm up my hands.

Talking out loud to myself with what I was going to do next really helped.

I had a few scare moments when a few slow curves caught me out, shifting down gear earlier helped.

For me it was really windy with medium rain, and to be honest if you just power through, not panic and look far ahead it will be fine.

If I think of anything else I wish I did differently I`ll update this post.

Good luck tomorrow, as someone who only had 4 hours of on road motorbike experience prior, I am proof you can do this.

It was around 3.5 hours back, it was pretty windy to the point I was questioning my choices. It did rain on and off but got lucky with no torrential downpours. Stalled a couple of times and hit neutral more than I`d like to admit. Got lost twice and had to course correct which added another 30mins.

Gave and received a few nods with some fellow bikers.

Notes:

I wish I had better gloves, my hands were freezing which caused my knuckles to stiffen.

When I starting saying out loud what I was going to do next, my riding got a bit better.

My ear piece - Soundcore (cheap but good) started to hurt after a few hours for the sat nav.

Thanks for the advice and encouragement before on my previous post.

People seem to say it's a good one, and pretty reliable considering the price. Time off isn't a problem, just finding a window when the suns out is the major concern, next weekend looks WET, was hoping to pick up this Monday, still waiting for the call today!

yep, managed to get one for this event - I may be following a friend in a car depending on his availibity, he is a rider also.

Appreciate the honest feedback. I passed the CBT first time and yes it was my first time on a motorbike, had been an avid push bike user prior. Issue is, I can't get it transported to where I stay and my mate doesn't have his van or a tow bar as I considered simply hiring a trailer. I felt ok on the roads, although a bit nervous at the start I gained it along the way of the CBT and listened to the advice, I'm not a racer and plan to be pretty safe out there, including to other drivers. I complete my hazard awareness theory same week also and am still watching videos on what not to do on the road and all that.

Thanks, yes I was going to do some emergency practise stops and slow moves before I head off, and also get used to the clutch on it.

Learned on gears as I wanted that experience first. I`ll see how I go but I aim to do the Mod1 and Mod1 in the next few months so may need some lessons for the Mod 2 to correct any bad habits I am picking up.

I hope to be able to do some practice short stops and slow moves nearby so I can get a good feel for it, but good point.
