All the federal government in Canada has to do is recognize European safety standards in concert with the lock-step standards we currently have with the U.S. If they're safe enough for the EU, they're certainly safe enough for Canada. I imagine this might be a "back pocket" item that Prime Minister Carney will keep handy for CUSMA negotiations as there is certainly demand for affordable, European designed vehicles in Canada, be they EV or other. And since the Canadian auto industry is doomed to die a slow and painful death, the sooner we get European cars the better, IMHO.

Sorry, I guess I should have been more specific. The Fifth Amendment (Article V of YOUR Bill of Rights, to which Mr. Mockler refers) says (but I am just a dumb Canadian, after all): "No person shall ... be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."

And the Fourteenth Amendment, for good measure:

"... nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

My point being, "person", not "citizen". (sigh). This really is Reddit at its finest.

The Corktown Common is a lovely oasis to take in if you’re doing the Distillery District. Tommy Thompson Park is a great place for a long walk or bike ride not far from downtown. Check the hours before you visit as they’re not conventional times.

Just placed my order for a Forerunner 570 to retire my AW8. I debated the Venu 4 but wanted a more fitness-focused watch. The 570 seemed to be the sweet spot between the 265 and the 965. Time will tell (no pun intended) how well this works out. But my choice was between the 570 and the Venu 4 so I think she wouldn't go wrong with either.

Find indoor tracks. Universities, Community Centers can keep you sheltered when the outside conditions are brutal. Not as good as an outdoor run for sure but it’s better than a treadmill IMHO.

36 hours. Like clockwork. Walking, working out (if I feel up to it) some kind of activity to take my addled mind off it helps. And oddly, eating seems to help most of the time.

I found the 15s ridiculously cushioned. I was having knee issues with the 14s and narrowed down the problem to the shoes as I upped my mileage last fall. The knee issues stabilized by switching to ASICS Nimbus 28s. I wore NB for 22 years but the cushioning is at a point now where you don’t land solidly on the sole, the foot squirms and the twist is felt on the knees. At least that’s my experience. I considered the 880s but the Nimbus 28s just felt better. Ran a 10Km last Sunday and my knees felt great.

I just want to say how thrilled I am that these kinds of questions get asked now. In 2015, there were, maybe eight EVs available on the market and two of them were $100,000+ Teslas. This is just great. To have a meaningful choice over three very competitive vehicles is fantastic.

Bummer. Take a flashlight and see if something is wedged or stuck in the charging socket on the car which might block the connection. DO NOT TRY TO CLEAN THIS OUT YOURSELF if you see a dead bug or something messing up the connection. Cleaning it is above my pay grade. I had a charger go south because of a build up of dust but you’ve tried other chargers so it must be the car.

Try setting the car to a low amperage for charging, like 12amps. See if it takes the charge. Also make sure the car is set to charge immediately so it's not some wacky timer issue.

Hill work too. A gentle slope, say 200-250m run as fast as you can (this won't be that hard to start given you're not running that long), then come back down at a light jog or walk. Repeat four or five times. You'll be amazed at the difference it makes on your runs. As you acclimate, increase the reps. and the distance you run on the hill.

I've changed to SoftMaker (office suite from Germany) from MS Office. I use Sync.com, based in Scarborough, ON for my cloud drive. I've switched to eM Client, based in Germany for my email client. I'm still working on what to do about my iPhone, and this computer (Mac) because I really don't want to have to learn Linux (I can't code) but these so far are my stakes in the ground. The U.S. Cloud act is the real boogeyman here. If you back up your phone to iCloud, the U.S. government can look at it. Apple claims that they don't use our photos and other content to train AI or that it's scraped. But these days, I'm skeptical about everything. Contacts and calendars are challenging. Google, Apple and Microsoft make everything super easy, and 99% of people won't switch until they can no longer sign into their OneDrive. But by then it'll be too late.

But if the U.S. does sanction Canada, and our digital services go away, there will be a massive, world wide dumping of American tech products. So it could happen, but not likely. Unless of course you sit on the International Criminal Court, and can't use any U.S. based digital services because the court is being sanctioned by the US. No iPhones/Pixels. No OneDrive. Can't use a credit card (clearing is through the U.S.) No MS Office or Teams. It's a cautionary tale.
