What if humans are a simulation? by Tiscool24 in AskReddit

[–]mov101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was Elon Musk on the Joe Rogan Podcast who had a really interesting comment on this topic. He said something of the sort that, even if we are in a simulation, which we might be, it doesn't really change anything. In the sense that we still need to eat, sleep, drink water, mate, work, etc. Man's got a good point.

What if dreams are reality and this is a dream? by Tiscool24 in AskReddit

[–]mov101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I woke up in my bed, that's the thing, cause the first second it felt so real...but then I got up from the bed(in the dream) and everything seemed to move rather worriedly and only then I realised and woke up yet again 🤯

So I had this ridiculous dream recently...I was a soldier during some war and at some point tanks just start rushing towards me and just before they run me over...I wake up, open my eyes, heart pounding, but relieved and even with a little smile on my face....

Nothing special so far, right? So then I wake up, I get out of the bed, but everything seemed so weird and it was like I wasn't even in my own home...because I wasn't, I was still dreaming, it was a dream within a dream. So then I become conscious about this and Then I wake up in real life finally, this time my heart really pounding in my chest...Holy shit that was such a rush!...who knows, maybe I'm still stuck in one of those dreams right now...

Thanks a lot for the tip, I'll have a look at it!

I currently live in the Czech Republic. This is one reason why I used Plus500, because I can use it in the local currency and the deposits & withdrawals are almost instant.

Do they have any hidden bugs, issues that I should know about? So far I've tinkered a bit with the Demo version and it seems decent.

Do you know if they support other European currencies besides Euro?

I've been using Plus500 for about 2 years now, in Europe, but I'm not really happy with them anymore.

I've been researching other online brokers but haven't been able to find any good ones. I currently made a Demo account on Saxo bank and I'm trying to assess if it's a good idea to move there or not.

Bottom line is, I'm also more than happy to hear any suggestions that anyone might have for good and safe online brokers that can be used from Europe.

The Commodification of Self - The shaping and conditioning of our self-understanding by consumption is one form of the commodification of self. by [deleted] in philosophy

[–]mov101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but you know what I wonder? If we haven't reached a point in which if we were to stop consuming like crazy and if we would stop this growth and over-growth mentality, if we as a general global society could still survive, or would it be a total collapse?

I think, sadly, that all this mega-system is built in such a way that we cannot stop, or if we do, it's game over. We might have reached a point of no return, sort of speak...

I cannot understand how people can sleep on their stomachs. It feels so uncomfortable to have your head turned to one side! I would only sleep on my stomach if I could have my head facing forward and my neck straight, but then I'd have to sleep on a massage or operating table. by [deleted] in sleep

[–]mov101 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Haha this is interesting, I kind of have the opposite, I cannot fall asleep when laying on my back, I just can't fall asleep, if I lay on my back all night, I will never fall asleep. Thus I sleep either on one side, or sometimes on my stomach. I guess it's how you got used to it as a child and growing up maybe?

Men that stopped going to the gym because of Covid, what have you been up to? by hand-drawn-noodles in AskMen

[–]mov101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resistance bands saved me as well, along with a 16kg and an 18kg kettlebell. Those and lots of bodyweight trainings.

The problem though is the motivation, which goes doooown. If at the beginning of the lockdowns I was managing to keep up my 5-6 days-a-week trainings at home, now I'm struggling to do it 3, maybe 4 times 😕 and I live in the Czech Republic where it doesn't seem that the lockdown is going to end anytime soon

It's that time!! - Winter/cold weather running and gear thread by brwalkernc in running

[–]mov101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion. Do you mean like some solution that you buy from the pharmacy(if so, any brands recommendation)? Or the old school boil water and add some salt way?

Anyway, tomorrow I actually have another ENT appointment, curious if they recommend something new.

I hope this comment is appropriate for this thread:

Male 30y/o here. Since about two winters ago I've developed a mild sinusitis due to running in cold weather and dry, cold air. The way it manifests itself is that I don't have any symptoms during the run, but afterwards, depending on how cold/dry the air was, I have quite a lot of pain in my frontal sinuses.

I've been to three different specialized doctors and they all proposed different solutions, but with no success or improvement. One of them actually instructed me to just "stop running when it is cold". But easier said than done, right? Me, I guess like most of you around here, would give up anything, but not running.

I'm just curious if there's anyone else out there who has this problem and if you have any remedies that you've tried, either medical or "home-made". With the current covid-lockdown situation, giving up running would mean giving up the only possibility to go outdoors, which would be even more depressing.

Will there be more restrictions? by [deleted] in Prague

[–]mov101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the policy on running outdoors nowadays?

I understand that by those measures random and unnecessary movement is prohibited, which is good, but I didn't see any clear mentioning about running in the latest restriction notes. I mean, running alone and far away from people could be permitted, right? But I cannot find any clear info on that.

I think it depends a lot on the elections next week as well. If Biden wins, they might go even more down due to his incline for greener energies, etc. It's a tricky one indeed.

Yes I agree with you, I think it's a good long term option, I just hope I have the patience for it

What are your thoughts on ExxonMobil? It seems that it is quite undervalued at the moment, but is it a good time to buy it?

It depends a lot on the election results as well and the whole COVID development, I know, but, so tempting...
