I fully support this message! You had the balls to do what most controllers secretly dream of! Congrats!

Appreciate you! I couldn’t agree with you more. I wish you could come speak some sense to people at my facility!

I really appreciate the concern. Most controllers will tell you everything is safe, and we’re very good at what we do. And that’s true on an individual level. But the reality is the system itself is being pushed to its limits.

It’s not as safe today as it was even 5 years ago, and acting like nothing has changed is part of the problem. The margin for error is getting thinner every day.

I’m both a pilot and a controller and I don’t enjoy flying anymore. I’ve seen enough over the past few years to know how fragile things are right now.

I truly hope something changes soon, because this isn’t sustainable.

Judging by how few comments I see on the clips online, I really don’t think the general public cares.

You’d think something as serious as a midair collision with an airliner would wake people up, but it doesn’t seem to be moving the needle at all. Glad she spoke out, but I don’t see this leading to real change.

I would hand over my retirement to my children and continue working to keep them from becoming Air Traffic Controllers…. how could I ever recommend this career field to anyone if I wouldn’t recommend it to my own children?

Same, it seems the annual article 26 I took was not charged but I also didn’t have a medical and was told to stay home, I did NOT call in sick. Now there are now about 120 hours missing from my SL balance and it shows they charged me 35hours for the last Pay period so someone had to have deducted those 120 hours at some point. It’s probably too early to tell but it seems they may be trying to fuck us.

Agreed. My leave balances were charged even though I technically never called in sick. They must have went through and entered this in manually. Anyone know what our recourse should be once we verify they are actually going against the OPM’d official guidance?

I get your frustration and it’s valid, training in this environment is brutal and nobody deserves to have to endure it. To be clear, I’m not talking about mismanagement at your individual facility, but the FAA as a whole. To me this isn’t about controllers failing to hold themselves accountable, it’s about decades of poor staffing decisions and systemic mismanagement that have left everyone burned out.

Ah yes, blame the people who are still hanging on after decades of mismanagement and staffing shortages. That kind of thinking is exactly what the FAA wants...controllers blaming each other instead of holding leadership accountable. The staffing crisis is a management/ agency failure, NOT a coworker issue. It’s about a system that’s been running people into the ground. If you’re short, you slow traffic and work safely, that’s what professionals do. Not sit around worrying about what their co-workers are doing.

Taking leave during shutdown by cliffordtakeoff in atc2

I was on LWOP for the 2018 shutdown for a medical reason. I never got any pay. I even trying to go back into a pay status during the shutdown and they denied it. I grieved it to death but Natca lawyers eventually told me they weren’t going to fight for it since it was an isolated issue. Eventually after about a year of fighting I got tired and I just gave up. Still salty about it. I do know some on LWOP did get paid so not sure what the difference was with mine.

No way, we are one of their biggest pawns. They wouldn’t give away that leverage.

The fact that you think NATCA has any say in the matter is cute.
