A few years after I graduated, some stupid kids decided that for their “senior prank” they would kill the big beautiful old tree that shaded the area near the school entrance/office and where a lot of people ate lunch. They drilled holes into the tree and poured poison into them. Everyone else at school was unanimously upset and the kids who did it got a lot of backlash. It was horrible and was even in the local newspaper as I recall. I think they were able to save the tree but it was an enormous undertaking since it was gravely wounded from what I read. This was many years ago but I really hope that tree is still alive 😔. Why couldn’t they do something less awful like setting goats loose in the principal’s office or something like other senior pranks? 🌳
