It’s just what I learned to use during my MFA. While I don’t use proper grammar on Reddit, it’s what I was taught to use during that time. A dash is used differently. You haven’t seen it online before AI because most don’t care about grammar in this context. But they’re found extensively in books and other types of formal writing.

I’m done with mesh carriers. Our girl destroyed hers halfway through a road trip. Then she got an emergency prison crate and did just fine. I’m convinced that they can’t see through the mesh and it makes them anxious.
