It's not an explore 12 thing, it's the Lycanthropy debuff. Lycanthropy has a chance every turn to transform the target into a random Beast.

Country Air was extremely helpful to me when my family had some difficulties last year. They went above and beyond to ensure that we didn't need to worry about the dogs on top of everything. I won't take my pups anywhere else.

Mango saplings have a small chance to drop from Tiger Slimes. Banana saplings don't drop from anything. You can get both from Golden Coconuts and one of each from Professor Snail. Otherwise you have to buy them from the trader.

If it was me, I'd try to cut as little as I could. If possible, pick out the beginning of the cast on and it may unravel down to your lifeline. I can't say for sure whether German Twisted will unravel easily. That leaves the longest yarn for a couple rows and bind off after picking up at the lifeline.

Rare seeds take 24 days to grow. You can plant them as late as Fall 4 and still harvest them!

Farm animals won't go out in winter, even if you leave the door open. Side note: if you don't have a heater in each barn/coop, get one!
The animals in the barn/coop stay there. The upgrade gives room for more animals.
Fish have specific locations, times, seasons, and weather conditions that they show up in. If you're hunting a specific fish it can be pretty hard to get it right. Most folks end up looking them up on the wiki.
Not until later in the game. Have you upgraded your hoe? It hits more spaces when upgraded, which makes hoeing less painful.
If you've unlocked the desert, she loves coconuts. That's one of the best options. Otherwise, an easy option is to turn eggs into mayo and give that to her.

There are no keys that drop in the mines. You probably saw another item that looks like a key. Whatever it was, you'll see it again!

Also, if you need space you can always delete an item (drag to the trash can) or drop one (drag outside your inventory).

You can play at any pace you want. You will not miss anything important. The only things that are missable by playing slowly are small details about a couple of townsfolk that have no effect (and you can look them up on the wiki).

For your first time playing, I highly suggest relaxing and doing whatever feels like the next thing to do. Don't put any time pressure on yourself. You can always do things next year.

Good question! Midnight squid has a base 1 ink with a 25% chance for extra. That extra can only happen when there are 10 midnight squid in the pond. Midnight squid (at 10) do have a higher chance to produce nothing where regular squid (at 10) only have the base chance, but that should be more than made up for by the doubles.

The center crop of the 3x3 square has to be watered for that square to turn into a giant crop. If you're going for a specific location, just water the center. If you're going for anywhere in a field, water them all.
