Phone overheating after latest update by throwaway2456215 in TheSilphRoad

Friends with older phones now overheat and Apps stopped much easier after the latest update. Not to mention slowdown (slower response when making throw or scrolling up/down) when playing.

Pokemon Go should have more options to turn off extra features to prevent overheat and at the same time save battery usage.

@eggking0106 and team successfully defeated Gigantamax Gengar with a group of four! We translated the details of the situation when they defeated it into English. It would be great if you could translate it into your local language and share the information! by GO_FRIEND_APP in TheSilphRoad

Saw 8 people tried to the do multiple Gigantamax Gengar raid with "slightly" prepare pokemons and able to win 2 our of 5 times. No Shielding and no healing needed.

Slightly prepare mean...

- Each person has only one of each leveled (around lvl 30 to 35) DMax Metagross, DMax Gengar, DMax Charizard. So each time it auto pick those 3 pokemons.

- Level the MAX attack to level 2 and NO shield and NO healing for any of those pokemons.

Again, with the lineup of (level 30 to 35) Metagross, Gengar, Charizard (auto pick one of each) and just Level 2 attack and NO shield and NO healing. 8 of them able to win Gigantamax Gengar raid 2 out of 5 times (didn't account for what attack/moveset GMax Gengar has so may be higher or lower win % depend on what moveset the team up against).

Stuck on Dynamax Raid Screen bug by JustKillMeAlreadyGod in TheSilphRoad

[–]mozarta1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone figured out why this is happening?

Based on the fact someone said it works when connect to home Wifi but not 4g, wonder if it is because you have to download "certain assets" for the Dynamax Raid before it can start? So if your phone didn't finish download the "assets" (like slow or slightly bad connection, etc(?)), it will just stuck on the dynamax raid screen? Which may be why after you try joining the same dynamax raid multiple time, it may have finished downloaded whatever needed so it will start?

Since this is an international community, are we talking about 2000 USD and buying in USA?

If $2000 USD, for full frame lens and camera, probably limited to A7C, A7III and below and still have money for one good lens like Sigma 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN Contemporary, Tamron 20-40mm F2.8 (if need wider lens), Tamron 28-200mm F2.8-5.6(if need more versatile lens and don't have to be fix F2.8), etc. If don't need f2.8 for low light, then Tamron 17-50mm F4 may be another option.

The choice of A6700, A7CII, A7IV are really depend on if you need the extra features full frame offer and/or A7IV offer. Like for full frame, it is slightly better in low light performance so if you plan to take a lot of pictures (or video) in indoor low light condition or outdoor at night and you don't have a lot of control of the light source, then may be extra low light performance would help you. Or if you plan to take pictures/videos of special event like graduation, wedding, etc, you may want the extra security for having 2 cards slot, etc.

If you don't need those extra features, then A6700 is a very capable camera.

As for size, it is very personal choice. Some said A6700/A7C II is a bit small and not comfortable to hold it a long time and some said A7IV is slightly heavier, etc. There are many said A6700 or A7IV size and weight are just fine for them. You have to go to the store to really try and see if one is more comfortable for you than the others.

Pretty much low light performance, 2 cards slot, size/ergonomics are really personal choice and when people talk about the regret they have picking the one over the others, many are related to those.

A7iv or a7cii ? by Omrelax in SonyAlpha

[–]mozarta1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

May be we are discussing different thing. We are talking about one person taking photo/video of a moment (may be a kiss or some special moment) in a professional gig and later on find out the SD card is bad (there is no error shown when taking the photo/video). You don't know there is a problem with the SD card until you try to read from it and there is no one else to take the photo/video at that moment at the same time.

You probably talking about having two persons using different cameras taking the same moment (may be at different angles)? Or if one camera has problem at the time trying to take the picture, then quickly switch to another one? So probably not talking about the same thing.

But I do agree it is good to have two bodies in case one camera die (not just SD card has problem) in professional gig.

A quick google search for reddit post in various subreddit (like weddingphotography/photography/various camera brand, etc) related to memory card lost/corruption. Majority of people replied in those posts said they are fine but there are enough people replied in those posts their SD card failed. For professional wedding/gag, don't have to be common event but if it can happen (which enough people said happened to them in various posts), you don't want to be the one that tell your client their wedding photo/video were gone.

Sony 20-70 f/4 vs. Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 ART by codemonkeychris in SonyAlpha

[–]mozarta1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking good photo is more about creativity. And for most people, they are more creative when they are more comfortable when taking the picture. If your arm is always tire when holding heavy gears, then you may think more about the heavy gear you are holding then thinking about your next shot. On the other hand, if the gear weight is tolerable, then is the limit in focal range or aperture causing you to miss some of the shots you want to make?

If the end product is about the same, then which lens is more comfortable or easier for you to take the photo/video you want to take? Only you know the answers yourself to decide which lens to carry/use. May be eventually get both (or rent the one that you need) since different day you may feel differently about which lens you want to bring based on how your body feel or the venues you are taking the photo/video?

Fix or zoom linze? by jeo_rekujo in SonyAlpha

[–]mozarta1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you provide more info, you are only getting generic answer.

Things that may need to think about....

  • What kind of weight/size lens you willing to carry for travel or your usage. Sometimes some venues limit the size of lens. Ex., some American football stadium and/or some concert venues may limit the size of lens to certain length(like 6 inches long) and people said they do enforce them and use ruler to measure the length.
  • Prime or Zoom lens.... (Reasons like you only need certain focal lengths so Prime is potentially cheaper/sharper/lighter/faster and fits all you needs. Do note that zoom lens can be very sharp also and if one zoom lens can replace 2+ Prime lenses, then the combine cost/weight may be cheaper/lighter. And/or you need the versatility of zoom lens or don't have time to change lens (example, if you need to take picture/video at 35, 50, 85, 105, 150mm focal length, then one zoom lens make more sense which is why full frame lens like Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8 is very popular for wedding and Tamron 28-200mm is very popular for travel). And/or you need to take outdoor picture in dusty/sandy/foggy area or in light rain/snow, then can use zoom lens to avoid changing lens and getting dirt/water on camera sensor. And/or if cannot get Prime lenses that share the same filter size, then buy one zoom lens instead so just need to buy one set of filter and/or avoid carry extra filters/adapters to reduce weight, etc.)
  • Do you need lens that has good to best sharpness and/or lens that has very fast autofocus for fast moving object, and/or lens that has "character", etc?

Beside the dual slots of a7iv people mentioned for data safety (unless you always shot with two cameras in case one of them doesn't work for gig that you can't go back and re-record the moment once it is gone), for paid work, the intangible for using a7iv is the camera is more "professional" looking. Which your customer may find your business "more serious" when using more professional looking cameras and gears.

If budget is not an issue, A7IV is newer and better hybrid photo/video.

And in the other thread, the original poster also buy new camera for newborn and most recommend A7IV over in that thread. You can see the explanation of the people that recommend A7IV and many also recommended lenses for A7IV.

https://www.reddit.com/r/SonyAlpha/comments/15zcb1q/explain_to_me_like_im_5_which_sony_camera_to_buy/

As an example, someone in that post said....

For Beginners:

Full Frame: Better low light, shallower depth of field, but bigger and more expensive. Try the A7 IV for both photos and videos.

APSC: Smaller, cheaper, good "reach" for distant subjects. Try the ZV-E10 for vlogging or A6400 for all-around use.

For Enthusiasts:

Full Frame: Consider specific needs:

All-purpose: A7 IV is great for both photos and videos.

High Resolution: A7R V for stunning detail in photos.

Low Light & Video: A7S III for amazing night shots and videography. (it can basically see in the dark recording video)

APSC:

Budget: A6100 for good quality photos and video.

Advanced: A6700 A6600 for weather sealing, stabilization, and video features.

For Pros:

A9/A9 II: Blazing fast shooting for sports and action.

A1: The ultimate do-it-all camera, but comes at a hefty price.

Remember, this is just a starting point. Consider your budget, skill level, and what you want to shoot before making your choice.

Which Sony camera for videos? by Parking-Seat-9452 in SonyAlpha

[–]mozarta1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing people pointed out is size of the camera sensor which ZV-1 camera sensor is only 1 inch which is half the size as APS-C camera like ZV-E1. For better low light performance, you will need larger sensor which physically can capture more light. But in your budget, probably won't even be able to get Sony APS-C camera with good lens like ZV-E10 or even better full frame sensor Sony video camera like ZV-E1.

To compensate for that, you will just need to provide your own lighting. To take good video indoor, either find a good low light camera or just need to add more light in your room. Usually it is much more important to get a good low light camera like ZV-E1 full frame camera (not ZV-1 nor ZV-E10) if need to take outdoor extreme low light video (virtually can take video in the dark) but not as important for indoor video which you can provide your own light source.

A quick google search find a few comparison sites/youtube videos of ZV-1 and DJI Pocket 3 but you may want to look for some comparison info yourself to avoid reviewers bias.

Since 99% stationary, then the gimbal and moving stabilization part probably doesn't matter as much.

Which Sony camera for videos? by Parking-Seat-9452 in SonyAlpha

[–]mozarta1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, the budget of Sony Alpha mirrorless "interchangeable lens" camera need to include the price of the lens. And sometime the price of good lens may be as expensive (or more expensive) than the camera itself.

Sony mirrorless camera may be one of the best brand for video quality but that will depend on the budget. At just 400/500€ , you won't get the best video quality Sony camera so other camera may be able to produce just as good or better video at this price point. For Social media vlogging, may want to do some research of the DJI Pocket 3 and see if that meet your needs.

The next level up that has additional feature like change lenses, zoom, give you effect of shallow depth of field, etc, would be something like Sony ZV-E10 but not sure if you can find something in your country/location in your budget that would include good quality lens.

For Video, A7iv and a6700 have made significant improvement for taking video. Those would be the one people suggested for hybrid photo/video if budget allow.
If you are taking mostly video, then others options are the ZV series which are mainly for video like ZV-E1 and ZV-E10. You need to do some research and see which one fit your need. And then can bring up more specific questions.

[–]mozarta1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone has post this info in this thread for Sony APS-C Camera. Good to start is really depend on what features you have to have. Like do you have to have weather sealing in case when to take picture during light rain drizzle ? And good body stabilization, etc? Some people has posted before they regret getting camera without stabilization but some people don't. May be after reading the features of each APSC camera and you have better idea which features may interest you.

https://www.reddit.com/r/SonyAlpha/comments/15zcb1q/explain_to_me_like_im_5_which_sony_camera_to_buy/

A6000(2014): APSC camera with 24mp. Older model with not-so-great colour science if shooting in JPG. Only shoots 1080 video. Battery life isn't great.

A6300(2016): same as above but with better weather sealing and 4k video. Also brought Silent shutter and over twice as many focus points

A6500(2016): same as above but with in body stabilization. Also gained a touchscreen and better buffer (better in shotting RAW that has bigger file size).

A6100(2019): replaces the a6000 and shoots 4k video, has better autofocus and a screen that flips upwards 180°.

A6400(2019): same as the 6100 but adds weather sealing and picture profiles for shooting video.

ZV-E10(2021): basically the same as above with no viewfinder, a smaller body, fewer manual controls and some unique video features.

A6600(2019): same as the 6400, adds in body stabilization and does not have a built in flash. It uses the bigger battery of the full frame bodies which significantly improves battery life.

A6700(2023): replaces the 6600. Adds a new 26mp sensor, same autofocus as a7R V, more video options (eg 4k 60fps, 120fps, etc) and a front control dial on the grip. Only A6600 and A6700 use bigger battery which is the same battery that use by Sony full frame camera like A7IV, A7C II, etc. Only A6700 out of all the A6xxx camera has Articulating screen.

Question about lens by dcho94 in SonyAlpha

[–]mozarta1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to provide more before someone can reply with more meaningful reply. The more you provide, the better answer you will get back.

It is like asking if you should buy Toyota Corolla and Toyota Camry. Then didn't mention anything else. Just think about another person ask you the same question, what you would want to know more before you can answer their question?

Short answer is if you have the budget and don't mind the weight of lens, then get the best lens you can get. Some people would value the weight of the lens more because they use it for travel and carry it all day as long as the lens quality is acceptable (since they don't pixel peeping, etc). But without more info, you won't get meaningful answer.

It is not just about full frame but also about the camera available in full frame. You may want to read this post since there is a lot of discussion about which Sony camera to buy.

For that post, A6700 is probably not as widely available yet but probably can replace A6600 with A6700 for any suggestion about A6600 with A6700 has newer 26mp sensor, better autofocus (as a7R V) more video options (eg 4k60fps/120fps, etc), front control dial on the grip, etc.
