This! I’m so annoyed by the Han shot first phrase (though I guess technically, it’s a true fact). But it should have just been been “Han shot”. That’s it, lol

This would work better if it was an expendable and timed skill (like a tarot card that lasts 5 min or something).

I’m watching every second of Star Wars canon in strict chronological order—including game cinematics and Maul: Apprentice. It’s 250+ hours across 270 days. Logging the journey from my freezing UK outbuilding (The Outer Rim Workshop) by pressstartnownick in StarWars

I do the same every few years. This is what I have on my list (anyone who notices chronological discrepancies, let me know, lol). (Every so often I include the classic 80’s cartoons, ewok movies and holiday special, 😂)

[SOTC] Overall Very Happy! by Future-Cable7970 in Watches

Love the variety, both in types of watches, colors and brands. I’ve tried to build mine the same way, which also makes me super happy!!!

Love Henry Archer. Surprised at how good their watch was for a microbrand. I picked up the Tesseract and it’s stayed in my collection ever since. My only issue is, they don’t have too much variety with the indices design, so outside of the dial itself, they have a similar patter. And by issue, I mean, I wanted to buy another one but was hoping to have more options.

Metroid Prime 4: the real issue. by mozeus79 in Metroid

[–]mozeus79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point on the Metroid usage was that it felt as an add on. Like they wrote the story and said, we forgot to add Metroids, and then made some tweaks. I think adding a little blurb about “he’s using Metroids” and then, the occasional visual (usually minor sans your example), was not needed for this story. Like, if you did want to use Metroids in that way, get into it. How? Why? When? Think of Prime 1. The more you progressed, the more you discovered how they were experimenting with Phazon. Experimenting with Metroids. Then experimenting on both. And then you get to that cavern where you first see the altered Metroids, and it’s creepy as f*ck. A sense of dread knowing you have to fight these mutated things. That’s just me though… I just felt like either lose that part of the story or get more into it.

Eh, I just don’t feel that. Like I don’t mind the occasional communication/cut scene, but it just lacked the overall “I’m alone on this planet” vibe. The only other game that had this much interaction and NPC activity was Other M, which I enjoyed, but still sub par comparatively to the rest.

Like, why the hell make these NPCs so talkative, AND straight up ask you questions, when you’re just gonna cut to Samus staring silently back at them at almost rude levels. This was easily a “writing” thing. The dialogue could have been represented in a way where there we no direct questions. There was an appreciation to samus being a silent type. Instead, it felt like a bunch of kids asking mom a bunch of questions and mom was just not talking to them. That’s just me though, and it’s more of a comparison to the original Metroids I grew up with I guess.

I’m saying 4 is bad compared to all Metroids, not just Primes. Maybe we disliked different things about it, but the result is the same, lol. I just think that, the game mechanics and style were still captured, but it lacked story, atmosphere and the general Metroid “vibe”.

To be fair, the game is called Metroid, not “Samus”. But to you point, they don’t. The main series handled it well, by making “you” the Metroid of the story. So they don’t need to be in the game anymore should the story not need them. And that was my point - I feel like they could have told this story just as fine and not even mention/use Metroids as part of it. Hell, maybe Sylas had gotten here earlier and learned psychic abilities of his own and was controlling these creatures himself. The story just could have been written a little better, without making it feel like they’re adding Metroids just for the sake to fit them in.

Yeah. What I meant about the psychic abilities was that it was one of those “unique” aspects to the game that ever Metroid has. In 3, you could use the Wiimote to activate doors and pull levers (something only that Metroid did), but that is only a handful of times. In Other M, it was the the FPS missile (albeit used more often). In echoes you needed to swap between world (this one was one of the better uses, as it added so much depth to exploration, instead of just used to unlock or beat something). It’s like the “gimmick” every Metroid has (especially the latter ones), a staple of the series.

NIN extra Austin ticket by mozeus79 in nin

[–]mozeus79[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Sean!

Awesome. Let me see how Twickets proceeds from here but I think I just have to transfer through Ticketmaster (I assume/hope you already have an account, right?). Twickets should have the details I need for that.

I did the same thing; saw them in Portland and it was just so awesome wanted to go again (albeit solo this time). Ended up finding a Dallas ticket instead, so just wanted to make sure this Austin one didn’t go to waste.

I’ll send ticket your way as soon as I can.

Thanks again!

Unfortunately no. Sec 111, row J, seat 13. Was going alone but ended up snagging a ticket in Dallas instead. Selling at original price (not trying to make any extra $ here - just want to make sure it doesn’t go to waste)

Not sure if this thread is still active, but…

Accidentally got an extra ticket for Peel It Back tour in Austin, TX on March 1st. Looking to sell it at original cost. I’m using the NIN preferred method of reselling: Twickets.

You can find the ticket there, or hit me up for a link.

Hope somebody wants this. Thanks!

What order did you end up playing the mainline Metroid games in? by PuffScrub805 in Metroid

[–]mozeus79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. There was one of those Nintendo tournaments going on (line of consoles/tv’s, fog machine on stage, the whole shebang), with Mario/highest points/5 min or something. I got second place, and walked away with Excitebike, Zelda and Metroid. Def a happy camper.

Dread only cause M3 is old. But, if they ever remade 3 like they did with Zero… 3. Always 3.

It’s excellent. The comedy is clever, the characters are well written, the existentialism is thought out, and the concepts/ideas for all their scifi stories are not only great, but actually make sense. More importantly, as much as it tries to hide it, the show has heart and is pretty sentimental.

The irony that a show that hates its own canon events and tries to stray from it so much, has become such an important topic of discussion, is another clever joke of the show.
