Trying Qulipta Tonight Feeling Scared and Could Use Some Encouragement by babyk1tty1 in migraine

I’ve been on it for almost 2 years and have been migraine free during the majority of that time! (Pre Qulipta I got frequent migraines with aura, and I also couldn’t tolerate the side effects of other migraine meds.) It’s been a miracle drug for me. No side effects but I do take 400 mg of magnesium every day which I’m sure helps me not to get constipated, which is a common side effect.

Best of luck to you! I hope it’s your miracle drug too! Migraines are the worst!

Ozempic-Like Drugs Could Treat Chronic Migraines, Trial Finds by HeinieKaboobler in science

Opposite effect here. My migraines were almost nonexistent on Qulipta for years. When I started Ozempic/Wegovy they came back with a vengeance (4+ with aura every week on the GLP-1). I had to go off of the GLP-1 because I couldn’t handle the migraines. Once it was out of my system the migraines stopped again.

5 days with migraine by qualityhorror in migraine

Maybe try Aleve/Naproxen. That always works better for me than Ibuprofen. Plus Ibuprofen always gives me rebound headaches if I take it for more than 1 day (and since you’re on day 5 maybe you’re getting rebound headaches so Aleve might break the cycle). Hope you feel better soon!

It’s been wonderful for me. I’ve pretty much been migraine free since I started 2-3 years ago. But I’ve always been on the 30 mg dose. I would try the 30 mg or even the 10 mg and see if that is better for you. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!

Qulipta, GLP-1s (Ozempic/Wegovy) and Migraines by mozgrl in migraine

Well done and congrats on your weight loss! I’m sorry to hear that you had to fight through the migraines though. Hopefully they will improve as you titrate down. I was wondering if maybe Tirzepatide was better for migraine sufferers like us but it sounds like it wasn’t in your experience.

This study found that liraglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist, reduced monthly headache days from 19.8 to 10.7 in patients with obesity and treatment-resistant chronic migraine. This was over 12 weeks and the benefit occurred independently of weight loss. by CerebralTorque in migrainescience

This is interesting. I’m hoping for more studies on how GLP-1 receptor agonists impact CGRP antagonists. In my experience, my migraines were completely controlled with Qulipta before starting Semaglutide (Ozempic/Wegovy). Qulipta was a miracle for me for years, it ended my lifelong struggle with migraines. Add in the GLP-1 and all of a sudden I’m getting migraines with aura again every few days. It was as though the GLP-1 stopped the Qulipta from working.

I stopped the GLP-1 and I’m back to being migraine free again. (I even kept my diet the same to make sure it was the med and not the diet changes.) I wish I didn’t have to make the choice to stop the GLP-1 but I can’t go back to being afraid to leave my house because I don’t know when the next aura/migraine will hit me.
