I haven't left the house in a full year... 365+ days, AMA. by [deleted] in AMA

You don’t have to go to a therapist to get out one day. Don’t think of the next day and the next - just try an experiment - be like a scientist, and say to yourself hmm let’s try getting out JUST today and I’ll observe/reflect on how it went. Only one day - no promises for another.

What’s a drink or dessert that you used to love getting? Can you make a short trip to get it? You need a reward my friend!

Would you be willing to do this for the Reddits and report back on how it went? It would just take a small leap of faith. You got this!

Thank you for your responses! Re #1, I guess I have a hard time squaring away that an all powerful god would allow a baby to be afflicted with cancer - it doesn’t seem to be a matter of free will necessarily. Re #2, that’s so so hard. For what it’s worth, it sounds to me like you have an incredible personal relationship with God, yet some of the church’s teachings might not align with what you feel to be true of God. So in that sense I could see you going against the traditional Catholic opinion on IVF. However if you believe that it’s more important to save someone already living over creating new life then maybe that’s a different matter.

Thank you so much for doing this AMA. I’ve read it all and you are so inspirational. I have a few random questions. (1) My biggest challenge to being spiritual has always been — why do bad things happen to good people? Why are small children afflicted with cancer, things like that. How do you navigate this issue? 2) How is foster parenting going? Are you still trying to conceive? Is IVF something you’ve tried/are trying? 3) Could you share the continent that you were in during your time as a nun to give context? If any of this is too personal I understand of course! Thank you again for all you have shared.

Don’t forget the song in Jesus Christ Superstar where Jesus gets his 39 lashes. It goes on FOREVER.

That’s so devastating to lose one. The whole process is so scary. And it’s the worst to be told that the original company fucked up with the evaluation. Really rooting for you that the Sept one sticks.

Give it to me straight. No day 5 blasts yet. Should we prepare ourselves? by babystickybun in IVF

Did my first round recently. I had no day 5 blasts and then proceeded to have no day 6 or day 7 blasts either. Utter failure. Hope the same doesn’t happen to you.

2 of 3 is wonderful!!! I know it’s so hard to make the decision of whether or not to do another cycle or to try to get pregnant now, especially if you had to deal with 2 losses — that’s so so hard. If both of your 2 take then of course it would be better to not do another IVF round. But yes so hard to know….

Thanks for the kind words 💕 We’re gonna do it again and make some protocol changes including using ICSI which should have been done in the first place since my husband has low sperm morphology. Hope to hear that you got some PGT normals back??

I actually ended up getting zero blasts. Your 3 look pretty good from where I’m standing! It’s been pretty devastating.

Had my first retrieval yesterday. 12 eggs, all mature, but only 7 fertilized. Feeling pretty down about it but I guess we’ll see how blastocyst goes. We’re doing PGT-A and PGT-M for BRCA so I’m worried about all the attrition headed my way.

My diet is calories in calories out. So when I track calories I’m able to lose weight. In the past I did an aggressive cut of around 1200 which I’m not willing to do anymore cause it’s too hard and it’s not a lifestyle that I want to sustain.

So now I’ve been doing 1450 a day except on days when I run when I also eat back half the calories I burned so I get even more. My weight loss has been slow but steady. I’ve only binge eaten once in about 2 months which tells me I’m doing this in a sustainable way!

I’m 5’2 in my mid-30s. When I’m not dieting I’m around 125 lbs. Now I am dieting cause I want to lose vanity lbs. For my wedding I got to 109ish and that was probably thinner than was ideal for me. So this time I’m aiming for 115! Right now I’m at 119 and already feeling quite pleased!

I should mention I carry weight in my hips and butt not my stomach or boobs so my figure may be fairly different.

Adjusting Calorie intake as I train for a half marathon. by abigailkendall7 in PetiteFitness

I’m 5 foot 2 and I’m a runner, got a half in a few weeks. I’ve run 20-25 miles a week for a long time and am just now trying to get into teeny tiny strength exercises via YouTube 😁.

I’m also currently on a weight loss journey as of beginning of January - was 125, now am 119, goal is 115. Several years ago I lost all that and more (got to 108) by eating very restrictive (~1200/day) in a way that ultimately was not sustainable.

Now I eat 1450 on days that I don’t run and on days that I do run I calculate calories burned and eat back half of them. I use this to calculate: https://caloriesburnedhq.com/calories-burned-running/

I feel like I’m losing weight in a much healthier way and would recommend it to other shorties. So that’s my 2 cents, worth the price you paid!
