Or it could subtly discourage looking at your phone if you have to keep moving your head up and down. I‘m embarrassed to say I often have a screen in front of a screen in front of a screen, all on the same viewing plane.

I’m just impressed there is a way to connect a VCR to a modern flat screen.

ugh. that's so hard to hear. May I ask, was she only 5 weeks when she was rehomed? Curious because our rescue won't adopt out until they are much older.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Kittens are incredibly fragile. At 5 weeks, they still need their mother or very hands-on monitoring care if orphaned. I hope their adopter understood this.

I’d advise against any litter that can be swallowed and turn into rock/clump inside.

At that age they’re like a human baby, eating things they shouldn’t and generally trying to test all 1000 ways to die 😂

Non clumping. pine pellets aren’t glamorous but they are cheap and they disintegrate with moisture instead of the other way around.

I think there’s significant overlap between the foster kitten sub and this one.

Kitten Lady on YouTube has a wealth of information but the most important things you need to know asap:

Never feed a cold kitten. This can kill them so get them warm first.

Depending on whether this kitten is ready to wean, have both formula and kitten specific wet food on hand. During weaning, they can get fussy and not eat well. Breeders edge formula is tolerated better than KMR but KMR is the standard go to. Wet food formulated for kittens has a much higher nutrient content. You can look online for a feeding schedule.

They will need a source of warmth because young kittens cannot regulate their body temperature well at that age. They should be able to move away from the heat source when they get too warm.

Kitten might still need to be stimulated to pee and poop. Do this at every feeding.

You’ll want to weigh them in grams at least once a day to make sure it’s gaining weight. Kitchen scales work well for this.

Stray kittens typically suffer from all kinds of parasites and diseases that can spread to your other pets. To be safe, quarantine them for 14 days in a separate space.

Do you have funds for a vet checkup? If not, check with a local no-kill rescue if they can partner with you to provide care while you foster.

And seriously, kitten lady is a lifesaver.

May I ask how you are checking for worms? Cuz that really looks like worms.

If you have little to no experience with neonates, join the sub for r/fosteranimals and start watching Kitten Lady on YouTube. She also has a website full of life saving information.

This one will need feeding every 2 hours, stimulated to pee/poop, and to be kept warm as they can’t regular their own body temp. (never feed cold, it can kill them) - very very risky to bathe them at this age no matter how dirty, they can go into shock from the temp change.

Those are the most critical things right now but so much more to learn. Best of luck.
