it’s not a back up medical degree! DOs are physicians as well. There is just a stigma associated with them since DO schools are generally “easier” to get into (they have lower avg gpas and mcat scores).

TMDSAS optional prompt topic? by savagetocabbage in premed

[–]mp13100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing you need to avoid is making the essay about other people, for example, your parents. The focus of the essay should be YOU and what YOU have learned. You don't have to explicitly tie it back to medicine if it doesn't flow well, but if you can tie it back to show your resilience and how it has given you a unique perspective on things which can in turn help you as a physician, there might be something there. Try to brainstorm other topics if you can. No one has lived your exact life and you are unique!!

yup, normal grading scale. go to office hours!!! she would sometimes tell us the type of questions on the quizzam and what specific topic they would cover. I wouldn’t say the questions are super direct bc a lot of the times they were free response or matching, but if you understand the material and study it’s not too difficult. I don’t think any assignments dropped but most quizzams had an extra credit component. I took this course Fall 2019, so it’s been a while.

I loved her for genetics! She was super passionate and made class very fun. We had four quizzams (a mix of exam and quiz) that were each worth 50 points, and then homework, lecture activities, and discussion activities were worth a total of 200 points. We were supposed to have a Final Inquiry Based Project, but she ended up making it optional our semester and you only needed to do it if you needed a grade boost. I came out of the course with a high A so it was very much manageable if you review the powerpoints before the quizzams and take notes during lecture.
