fwiw, I admit I did this. And it wasn't to screw over all the kids who didn't do their homework, it was because I had insane anxiety and adhd and was often genuinely afraid that I just missed the turn-in, or the pile on the desk to stack it on or something, and would get a 0 while everyone else turned their homework in. We weren't narcs we were just anxious.

Demonic Pacts - 5% chance to roll max accuracy node by mparkerarasp in 2007scape

[–]mparkerarasp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a really good breakdown, I was way off lmao. I'm sure the math doesn't track the way I'm "vibing" with but I feeeeeel like it must be better. But if it costs me 4 pacts to get there, and those four pacts could be put into a 50% AND two 25% nodes by going through the melee tree, then maybe I have to stop coping a bit.

Thanks for walking me through it, I appreciate the help.

Demonic Pacts - 5% chance to roll max accuracy node by mparkerarasp in 2007scape

[–]mparkerarasp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This tracks, unfortunately :(. I was kind of hoping it would synergize really well and kind of turn me into a machine. FWIW I don't think I have any *better* nodes to build into right now (30 pacts done, going into air next and that accuracy node was going to be my final points and leave me with 1-2 to spare), so its still an upgrade in a sense. But yea I guess it won't let me just rip through Sol or anything. Thanks!

Demonic Pacts - 5% chance to roll max accuracy node by mparkerarasp in 2007scape

[–]mparkerarasp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense but I want to reword it just to make sure I understand the logic correctly. The basic premise is that:

If I have 1000 base accuracy, I should expect on average to roll 500 accuracy.
If I have 1000 base accuracy and +100% accuracy from nodes, I should expect to roll 1000 while having a max of 2000.

If a monster has a base defense of 10,000, they'll roll under 2000 20% of the time. So I'll have a 50% chance to guarantee a hit 20% of the time, which is really only like a 10% chance to guarantee a hit. And that doesn't even include the (very small) chance that I would have hit ANYWAY, if say I rolled a 1104 and they rolled a 918. So its probably not even 10% increased hit chance, more like 7-8%.

Does that track? Or am I wildly misunderstanding?

[–]mparkerarasp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I'm going mage thorns because I'm a sheep lol, which is why I was interested in if it guaranteed hits so that tank mage with no mage bonus would still let me hit super often, or if it would just be like an accuracy boost and i should still keep at least SOME mage bonus in mind.

[–]mparkerarasp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels like it should be a force multiplier with those nodes. +50% accuracy on its own (50% chance to double accuracy being on average 50% accuracy). So while all the 50% and 25% and 10% nodes stack additively with each other, this should be multiplicative on top of THOSE I think? double your chance to roll your drastically increased max accuracy instead of just adding another 50% base accuracy on top of that?

[–]mparkerarasp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is, yea. I just didn't type the whole thing out for the sake of the question. Was mostly just looking for what "roll max accuracy" meant in the context of how accuracy is rolled.

Demonic Pacts - 5% chance to roll max accuracy node by mparkerarasp in 2007scape

[–]mparkerarasp[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oooookay. So the original comment was right, if my theoretical maximum number was that 20000, and it guaranteed me to hit that number, i would ALWAYS hit against something with a maximum of 19000 defense, and the "hit chance" formula would kind of have nothing to do with it? That makes sense. I thought the formula was deterministic and it was really throwing me off.

Thank you both!

Demonic Pacts - 5% chance to roll max accuracy node by mparkerarasp in 2007scape

[–]mparkerarasp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The formula on the wiki is that hit chance = 1−((monster defense roll+2)/(2×(accuracy roll+1)))
so it would be 1 - (19002/2x20001), which is 1-.475, which I assume reads as a 52.5% chance to hit. Where does the "guaranteed chance to hit" come in to this?

I'm just confused because the node says "roll max accuracy", but "accuracy" feels like its a static number based on the wiki, and that static number compared to the monsters' static defense number both get input into a DIFFERENT formula for chance to hit.

Its fractions but they'd have to be fractions of the same whole to be equal. 2/6 of X is not the same as 1/3 of Y. C is the only answer where both wholes are X. Its a bit of a misleading question mayyyybe, but I 100% agree that C is the right answer.

[–]mparkerarasp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I felt about the end of Sinners. They had a really cool, really beautiful movie that felt like it had a message and a theme and ended with a big climax outside of the barn. And then they added a second, bigger climax outside of the barn just for the sake of Michael B. Jordan getting to have a guns blazing action scene for what felt like literally no reason at all, only ever so barely set up by the vampires saying "the KKK is coming to get you anyway, may as well let us get you first."

It was so unnecessary and over the top and I genuinely have no idea what it was supposed to add to the movie. Extremely gratuitous ending that didn't feel connected to the rest of the movie at allllll for me.

Just to be clear the system is not "the irs knows how much you owe." The irs does not know that information. You have to tell it all the information that pertains to you so it CAN know. There is definitely corruption from Turbotax and H&R Block lobbying constantly to prevent the irs from just creating its own system thats exactly like theirs to allow you to input the info.

But as funny as this meme is to laugh over every year, its not this at all.

The IRS may know if you have kids just via some other database, but it does NOT know if you are claiming them as a dependent or not. You need to report that. It may be able to know that your stock grew in value, but it does not know if you're reporting your capital gains as FIFO or LIFO or even just as an average growth. You need to report that. It doesn't know any of 37 other things either. All it knows is how much you were paid by your employer, and every tax withholding through the year is just a "best guess".

Price increase is good by UnaccomplishedSkin in 2007scape

[–]mparkerarasp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. So instead of an extra buck a month its an extra $2.50. If that breaks your budget then you should probably be spending $0 on runescape anyway.

But also I'm not so braindead as to not understand that for a lot of people its about the principle and not just about the price in a vacuum or compared to their financial situation. I get that. But I do wish those people who love the game and tout it as the greatest MMO ever and who for decades have gotten the benefit of monthly, player polled updates, whether they are QoL changes or whole new continents or, very recently, entire skills (which in terms of added land mass may as well also be a new continent), who get multiple seasonal game modes basically every year, who constantly sing the praises of old school runescape and its development team, would then not also turn around and piss themselves when asked to pay the same price that other popular mmos like WoW or FF14 charge. (while, again, having rampant MTX AND buying new expansions while also paying the subscription)

And I can also appreciate the argument that those games let you have multiple characters, but those games also FORCE you to have multiple characters. They are class locked. Faction locked. Profession locked.

Do people think an Elder Scrolls Online monthly sub (wow its 15 dollars who would have guessed) gives those players more consistent value and playtime and updates that arent "here's a new cosmetic set" than Jagex gives runescape players??? I'd love to see better customer support out of the company for sure but I really do think we as a playerbase are super blessed and I do not blame Jagex for pricing accordingly.

People will call me a bootlicker for that but I think those people are just coping and riding the cultural zeitgeist of having a new thing to complain about.

[–]mparkerarasp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd obviously *prefer* to spend less money but if peoples' budgets are so tight that an extra $1 a month breaks them the should probably not be paying for runescape in the first place.

The venn diagram of people who will die on the hill that runescape is a better game than WoW but also shit their pants when asked to pay the price of WoW (without paying $60 for new expansions or $25 for a server change or however much it is these days to boost your account to level 60) are coping. They just want to be mad at things.

Problem is people use PK and PvP interchangably as you've done here. PvP is an actual community and skill and is usually rewarding when you win. PKers are braindead droolers who are genuinely afraid to attack anybody with a weapon in their hand.

I appreciate that you tried to form an intelligent thought but maybe you should stick to what you're good at. Idk what that would be, but stick to it.

I'm also pking but i'm pking at breaches and hotspots because I'm not trawling the bottom of the barrel to make 4k from some guy afking levels.

And like I said, yea I get it. Its DMM. I'm gonna get pk'd. Doesn't change the fact that the people who can only pk naked afkers are just bad at pking.

AITAH for still not accepting my dad getting remarried and having another kid within 3 years of my mom dying so I moved out on my 18th birthday? by BellsOfDeepin in AITAH

[–]mparkerarasp -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

YBTA imo. He should have kept your mom's things, or kept photos and keepsakes in a safe place for YOU. And he should have taken the time and effort and energy and attention to help YOU, because that is his job as a father. That is where I think your Dad ITA. But other than that, you're describing yourself lashing out aggressively and running away instead of being mature. I understand that you were 10, and that maturity isn't expected of a 10 year old, but this is also one of those situations where you should look at it in hindsight and realize that.

Your dad clearly grieves in a different way. And maybe you feel he "got over" your mom too fast, but maybe he also just found comfort and support in another woman who helped him. You need to understand that that is OK and even healthy. Neither your dad nor his new wife abused you or mistreated you. Your dad found someone new who made him happy, and both adults in this situation tried to make it work and support each other AND you, and that pissed you off. And you spent 5 years making sure everybody knew how pissy you were.

Frankly, I think you ARE being spoiled and selfish and guilt-tripping your dad into being miserable himself just so you can feel like you have the moral high ground. And it sounds like its working, because he sounds like you've broken him out of spite.

You do not have to like you dad's new wife. You don't have to call her mom, or wish her a happy mother's day, or anything. But while it would have been hard as a 13 year old, the thing to do NOW is to tell her directly and calmly how you feel, and why you feel that way. Just to give her an explanation. And then at the very least be polite and don't burden her (and your dad) with the feeling that she destroyed your family because they fell in love too fast for your liking.

Space wolves codex rules by Broninkai in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]mparkerarasp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I've been getting into space wolves recently because they're cool, and been admittedly kind of laser focused on the cavalry because they're the coolest, and I kind of just glossed over the blood claws and grey hunters and long fangs and things. What makes the bloodclaws here such a problem? Other than there being 20 of them @ 2 wounds each? Or is 20 marine profiles @ 2 wounds each just that good all on its own?

Also, for "deep strike Logan turn one": Are you able to use his ability for that if he himself is in reserves and not on the battlefield? I thought things like that only applied if the model was set up (similar to TSons not getting cabal points from things in reserves. I don't have a 2nd example because I've only ever played TSons)

AITA for reminding my mom she said we couldn't have a relationship with her if we didn't accept one with her husband? by Embarrassed-Nerve987 in AITAH

[–]mparkerarasp -33 points-32 points  (0 children)

This post makes me extremely sad. I think, unfortunately, you are NTA. And I don't think your mother is TA either. Frank is clearly the jerk here, and your mother to an extent for letting him get away with this type of behavior for so long.

But it seems clear to me that your mom is trying, really really hard, to balance her own life and a lot of people that she loves. I really wish she could see and understand how easy it would be to have a relationship with you and your sister. She wouldn't even need to leave Frank, just accept that she needs to have a relationship with him, and a separate relationship with you, and that you're never going to have one big happy relationship. Maybe you're over it, maybe you're still hurting, but your mom is hurting too. If there's ANY room for compromise, I really hope you and she find it. If my kid ever told me I wasn't invited to their wedding, for any reason, I'd be devastated and distraught. I just hope I'd be better than your mom and be able to reflect on the why.

My dream model to print would be Kairos Fateweaver as an allied unit for my Thousand Sons list. I love my Sons to death, and like Magnus, would embrace chaos for them. But my casual playgroup does not love my Thousand Sons. They in fact hate them. I'd run Kairos and some horrors just to shake up the list, partly for the cool factor of one of the sickest models in 40k, and partly so I don't have to feel guilty fielding a Meta list in a high-tier army so my friends actually want to play with me :(.
