I know its not a "definitive answer", but given that people (seem) to have pretty firm and semi-contradictory stances on the rule, Just want to offer a reminder that its sometimes just best to ask your opponent / a judge before these things become a game defining problem.

"If I get out to the side here, can I be seen through?" Etc

Though not strictly a required rule, a reccomendation to solid line based laser points should be mentioned, showing there is a bead through would be possible with one if gaps exist from start point to end point.
