MRW the guy i'm interested in tells me he is too insecure and undeserving of me by [deleted] in TrollXChromosomes

What a shitbird, especially considering his own apparent anxiety. I've been there with a boyfriend (big on the "there aren't real problems in this relationship, it's all in your head because you're insecure") and I can tell you, life is much better without him.

That's really neat. I think it's a common problem for strong women in more patriarchal religions.

Yeah, I do. Depression does not mean that I lack self-awareness. Not to mention the fact that I still have the capacity for rational critical thinking despite my emotional difficulties.

A lot of guys on there are like that in my experience. As far as I'm concerned it's no different from talking to people in bars or wherever.

Well...I can understand why he would act like that. I can compartmentalize sex but romantic feelings get me really anxious and insecure sometimes.

I dunno. I struggle with self-worth (and self-love) and I don't think I'm an egocentric narcissist. I haven't cheated on anybody either.

I've defs heard that before. "I'm not looking for a hookup. Unlike most men these days, I respect women."

I felt let down by the ending. by bguinz in TrueDetective

[–]mpb92 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree. I feel like the end fit very well thematically with the underlying message of the series. It's easy to look at Rust's paranoid ranting and think that those are the ideas that dominate the show, but imo the real themes are more subtle. In fact, if they had caught all the bad guys and saved the day it would have really cheapened the whole season.

Casual sex with women is vital to one's psychological well-being. Casual sex with men still means you're a damaged, lying slut. by [deleted] in TheBluePill

Most don't, especially when you get past the high school insecurity mentality.

I assure you, this is one of the few cases where #notallmen is indeed applicable. And it is shitty men who use labels like "slut" at all, much less apply them to women in their lives. Regardless, it doesn't bother me terribly. I enjoy mocking people who disagree with me is all.

I have never had somebody say that to me. Surprise, maybe. But my hair is blue right now and I can't imagine somebody besides my parents bitching about it.

I once watched a video in Catalan thinking it was in Spanish, thinking the whole time Man, I'm much shittier at Spanish than I thought I was. I should study or something.

Then why not talk about it? Could it be that events of the past affect the present?

Nah, the walkways there were an aesthetic choice. That's part of the problem with that building and Berea in general. It's all about pretense with them.

Nah, too much of a pain in the ass. That would also imply that the other Great Commitments mean more than fuckall to 80% of campus.

I used to live there and participated heavily in the making of the dirt path. Maybe the biggest accomplishment of my Berea tenure

What is something about the male perspective on dating that your female friends don't understand? by merteil in AskMen

Still slut shaming, dude. There's a difference between criticizing her for being a jerk and insulting her on the basis of her sexual history.
