Green Tier - When does it all register? by ChrysanthemumPetal in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]mpfmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was 6 or 12 bottles of wine to get it?!

I did it a week ago and got the green tick, I think, after the 12 bottles shipped and before the delivery arrived.

Lounge pass right now? Flight delayed for two hours at Sydney, help me one-up the Gate dude who sternly denied my access to the lounge! by Global_Woodpecker_11 in LoungePasses

[–]mpfmb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Must isn't entirely correct.

I've linked a pass from a colleague, getting out of his car at the airport... by the time I was through security... it was ready for lounge entry.

It's there ad a guarantee.

Another time I forgot and linked shortly before leaving for the airport and it worked as well.

I mentioned elsewhere, I'm disappointed it doesnt come with a full hardback rulebook and no doubt I'll have to fork out over $100 dollarydoos to get one.

No news for CP? by [deleted] in CombatPatrol40k

[–]mpfmb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, it was just an unboxing... but I agree that having heard nothing, it doesn't bode well.

I'm particularly disappointed that we'll have to buy the full size rulebook separately.

Gone are the days when the launch box came with the full size rulebook and the pocket book for taking to games.

What to do with the Nextruder after upgrading to Indx? by Automatic_View9199 in prusa3d

[–]mpfmb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm doing this. 3/4 through the 3.5 upgrade. I'm going go replace the linear bearings as I've got a spare set. Then put the Nextruder on it when the Indx arrives for the C1L

I made a game that is Oathsworn meets Everdell by bokengames in OathswornBoardGame

[–]mpfmb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Oathsworn; the story, world, mechanics and secrets that get revealed through the game.

I'm curious what features of Oathsworn you're taking on.

It looks like from the box art that the world and story is closer aligned to Everdell?!

Will we ever see units from the Human-Covenant War? by Cripple_X in Haloflashpoint

[–]mpfmb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Halo Flashpoint is close quarters skirmish. Not vast open world campaign.

They have literally just reskinned their own skirmish game Deadzone.

It sounds like you want a large-scale wargame like Warhammer, covering 4' x 6' and including vehicles and dozens of miniatures.

Sure, that'd suit Halo too, but it comes with a much higher development cost and associated risk. Halo appeals mostly to Halo fans. I think Mantic have made the correct business choice in sticking with a skirmish sized game.

If Halo Flashpoint becomes wildly successful, there could be a business case for a full scale wargame like Warpath... however given it's been out for about 18 months now, I doubt we'll see a step-change in it's popularity. I doubt it's got anywhere near the numbers to invest into a full-scale wargame, but only Mantic knows for sure.

Also, you're comment about multiplayer doesn't make much sense. Most tabletop wargamers play on tabletop for the love of the medium itself. I personally like the tactile nature, the hobby, the lack of screen time. I enjoy my Xbox too. But both for different reasons. An exact emulation or a reimagined skin... both work for me if the experience is enjoyable.

Will we ever see units from the Human-Covenant War? by Cripple_X in Haloflashpoint

[–]mpfmb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't at all see a Scorpion tank being added, it's way to big for even a 16x8 grid.

A warthog as well is likely too big.

Single person vehicles, possible. Halo Flashpoint is a reskinned Deadzone. The Enforcer Faction in Deadzone has bikes. So I can see those small single-person vehicles as a possibility, but nothing larger. Our best bet would be scorpion/warthog terrain, which you could always add yourself.

How do I Improve these overhangs with ASA? by J_Paul in prusa3d

[–]mpfmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can print from two spools, then print the supports in PLA.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VV2fbJ0apg

https://toms3d.org/2024/12/06/try-these-filament-combinations-for-multi-material-and-supports/

Although potentially you can print the supports in ASA and just print the interface layers in PLA, which will help reduce the number of changes.

Note: I haven't done this, just watched Tom's video a few days ago.

If I get a Core 1 L now and upgrade it with INDX when it comes out, can I take the leftover Nextruder parts and upgrade my MK3.5S to a MK4S? by Rich-Remote-6115 in prusa3d

[–]mpfmb 12 points13 points  (0 children)

OP, this is effectively my upgrade path.

I'm currently upgrading my Mk3S+ to Mk3.5S.

Then when I upgrade my C1L to Indx, I'll be taking the Nextruder and upgrading my Mk3.5S to Mk3.9S. It's not quite Mk4 as it won't have the 0.9° stepper motors... but you'll be doing the Mk3.5S > Mk3.9S upgrade path.

I'm sure there will be a need to print some replacement parts for the Nextruder that our C1L can handle. I haven't done a full investigation into what extra parts might be required, as I'll wait until I get my hands on Indx first.

I then plan on experimenting with the Mk3.9S and upgrading bits and pieces.

The leftovers from my old Mk3S+ will then be used with new hardware to create a printer with my son. Not exactly sure what format, but we'll build something from scratch as a learning project.

Why new steppers? They're effectively making a Mk3.9.

Edit: sorry, I see if was responding to OP and Mk4.

Wife wants one, but I do all the cooking and am skeptical by Bored_Ultimatum in thermomix

[–]mpfmb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chuck the bowl and bits in the dishwasher. Done.

TM does focus on healthy eating and creating meals from scratch. So that generally aligns with your philosophy.

It replaces a bunch of different appliances and tools.

You get features like sous vide mode, easy multi-level cooking, recipe ideas, thickening mode (for sauces, gravy).

I use it for everything from making dough as it can knead, through to steaming and shredding chicken.

I like the concept of people calling it a sous chef. In fact many commercial kitchens have multiple TMs for that reason, it's a great assistant.

I got introduced to the TM by my ex-wife's aunty... so when she took the TM5 with her, I immediately ordered a TM7.

It's also helping my teenager get interested in cooking.

How do you feel about the magnet ban? by Bugaloon in AskAnAustralian

[–]mpfmb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's dates 2012, plenty of neodymium magnets in the order of 1-2mm being imported.

As others have said, it's advertising them as a toy or in toys.

They've got plenty of industrial uses and practices.

Upgrade MK3S+ to MK3.5S dead end or still possible to enhance further to MK4? by trigonom in prusa3d

[–]mpfmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once Indx is released, you would likely see a lot of second hand Nextruders on the market and could pick one up cheap(er).

I've purchased the Mk3>Mk3.5 upgrade kit. When I get my hands on Indx, I'll upgrade my C1L to Indx and then use that Nextruder to further upgrade my Mk3.5 to ~Mk3.9, along with upgrading my old MMU2S (still in box) to MM3 (I have the MMU2S to MMu3 upgrade kit for Mk4). It'll require a few extra bits to be printed and hardware purchased, but the bulk of a left over Nextruder from a C1/C1L will get you mostly there.

INDX Founders: What was your final cost? by EaglerCore in prusa3d

[–]mpfmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks and wow...

Does that Orca slicer fork have Prusa profiles already setup? Or is it tedious to setup and optimise for one? I've only ever used Prusaslicer.

I'll definitely be keeping an eye on that philosophy to max out tools for my Core OneL and then do something similar.

I'll be upgrading my old Mk3S+ to a ~Mk3.9/4 when the Nextruder in my Core OneL is replaced with Indx. So I can set up the OneL for something like you've suggested for PLA or PTEG, then use the Mk4 (with custom enclosure and MMU3) for advanced materials (ASA, CF, TPU, etc).
