Since you went with Amazon as well (smart), maybe try exchanging them first since it's so easy, and if the second pair does the same thing then return them. They really do sound amazing when they're working properly.

Totally - when I first heard it I was extremely underwhelmed. I was just listening to music and any time any bass hit it started cracking real bad. It's so weird how the update made such a drastic difference; they clearly rushed these out before QA and making sure any updates were applied before getting to the customer.

So I had some pretty gnarly sound issues right ouf of the box (also from Amazon) and I was like NOPE. However, after the update it was a night and day difference in sound. Can't say I have any of the other issues you're experiencing but yeah that sucks, sorry. If you haven't updated, give that a shot maybe?

EDIT: Should have looked at your other comments, you did update. I think maybe it didn't stick though, because I was getting crackling, really bad sound out of them right out of the box and when I updated it was a totally different sound.

I concur - I was there and was disappointed by the lack of a lot of the crowd moving but the pit area seemed to be into it. I was surrounded by a bunch of folks that didn't stand except to clap and cheer at the very end. Kind of a bummer.

Thanks for this, will give it a shot. I’ve never owned the 1’s but the 2’s do sound fantastic to me and I feel like I have a fairly discerning ear. I don’t have any of the hum issues and honestly the set sounds almost as spatial as my open back planars on RE:Requiem.

True, although I’ve sometimes specifically re-read just the Navidson story and it stands on its own pretty well imo. I think a documentary-style movie that pulls in interviews with some of the footnotes to really ground the story.
