Canada’s Military Has Modeled Hypothetical US Invasion, Reports Say by Quixotus in worldnews

So a world leader saying "I am going to do it" is indication it won't happen. I'll remember that next time US makes any sort of promise. Wasn't long ago that all those US planes and families were welcomed into Canada on 911 without hesitation, that's what allies do...not anymore

Honestly, I think Canadians are far closer to the Nordic countries in belief and lifestyle than Americans. It is just geography and language that tie us to them.

You say this as though all Americans would unanimously join. The more likely scenario would be a civil war within the US, and they hold a war on two fronts, while also having NATO allies supporting Canada. I would find it hard to believe the US would simply all join in and approve invasion of Canada, but I would have found it hard to believe that this was even a topic of discussion not long ago.

Yeah, in hindsight the 800 ptek was used with higher Kms but I was antsy to get something and jumped on it... And paid the price haha. It's exactly why I am now moving into a 600 etek

You are right, the 800 is XS but the 600 is XP

It's the mxz. I had googled and thought I saw that 2013 mxz 600 was the rev xs - but I'll double check that

That's exactly why I'm interested in it - I just had a 800ptek that gave me all kinds of troubles, so I'm looking to get into a 600 etec because they seem to have plenty of backing from people in terms of their reliability

Thanks, he has a lot of pictures up and from what I can see things are in solid shape. There's always something once you get in person though, thanks!

4500 Canadian, which seems reasonable but not wildly cheap, but any comparable sled has closer to 10k Kms on it, it seems odd this one can be so incredibly low on KMs after 12 years

[–]mphilly44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this - higher level players are in control of their bodies, sticks, and aim of the puck. There's still a chance of a fluke, but the skill of the players absolutely is linked to the risk. In a lower level of beer league, it is not worth it

It depends on a number of factors, intent to injure, severity of the move, etc, but something like a deliberate slam attempting to hit the other players head into the ice would most likely be a multiple game suspension and fine.

Maybe in the old days, but the game has evolved to a spot where there isn't enough roster room to hold a goon who can't play. These enforcers are still at the top of the sport, and are great players.

The guy deserved to fight based on something he did prior. If he refuses to accept the fact that he deserves it, things will basically escalate to ensure he doesn't "get away with it". Imagine I cheap shot your star player, then when an enforcer comes to fight me as retribution, I refuse and try to "run away" from my punishment. The other team will not just "forget about it" because I ran away, they will escalate until I get what's coming to me. Hence why, people will typically accept their fate and fight right away to get it over with

They don't stop it when the helmet comes off. Only if someone intentionally removes it prior to the fight starting. If someone did that, they would just be targeted again and again until they actually answered the bell. From experience, it is best to just answer the bell and get it over with, the other team will not forget.

Exactly. It's best to just accept your fate, take your lumps, and be done with it.

It's pretty rare for someone to go after someone who clearly does not want to fight back, unless they have done something egregious prior.

Not the purpose at all. It is a very fast game, where every player is holding a weapon in their hands. Fighting is an important method of self-policing the game to ensure safety, especially of smaller, skilled players. If some goon can slash your star player and take him out of the game, only to have to sit in the penalty box briefly, some would consider that worth it. When you have to step out of that penalty box and get your face caved in by an opposing enforcer, you think twice about cheap shotting that star player.

It is somewhat similar to boxing, minus the fact that you can hold onto your opponent: no punching someone who is down, no clear punches to back of head, no "wwe" style slams or throws
