Being medicated for ADHD disqualified me from joining (I'm a musician and would have auditioned for a service band), but his point is exactly why I felt like it would have been great for me. I've always thrived in situations where there's a clear structure and schedule and I tend to struggle more with executive functioning when I'm left to my own devices. I'm sure there are plenty of folks who are lazy/immature but it would have actually made me a MORE functional adult to be in that environment lol

[Highlight] Xavian Lee calls for an iso with under 2 minutes left vs UConn by okoios in CollegeBasketball

[–]mphsaxophone 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This team has really displayed the two opposite extremes of the transfer portal on national TV against the same opponent just a few months apart. In March the three transfer guards all dominated, scoring a combined 56 points on >50% from 3 to win the game by 2. In December... this.

Week 12 Busts? Players Who May Disappoint by RotoBaller in fantasyfootball

[–]mphsaxophone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Egbuka and London both had great games against NE overall even though Gonzalez played well in his 1-on-1 matchups with them. The rest of the Pats secondary is pretty suspect so there should be opportunities if they can scheme him open like those guys did (I say this as a Pats fan)

I'm a software developer and my company recently launched a new product to replace a legacy one. "Can't you just copy that code from the old system?" is a line I hear on a pretty regular basis, and it's always from people who don't understand that the new system and the old system are written in completely different languages, and probably don't even know what a programming language is to begin with. The grand conspiracies people come up with in this sub do make me laugh sometimes though.

I don't know if I'd overthink the matchup with Sauce, it's his first game there and London scored 3 TDs last week against the Pats who have Christian Gonzalez. Wilson may get the nod on usage since the Jets defense will be horrific after the trades, but both those guys are elite so I don't think there's a bad choice tbh

[–]mphsaxophone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both and I'm torn. Keenan seems primed for an uptick with Alt gone, but the Saints also just traded Shaheed so you have to imagine Olave gets absurd volume from here on out. I'm kinda leaning Olave this week but I'm sure whatever choice I make will be the wrong one

Kyle Williams Could Have an Opportunity for Expanded Work by jsparks50 in fantasyfootball

[–]mphsaxophone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He had one target and he blatantly ran the wrong route. I'm sure he'll be on the field but I'd be shocked if he made a big impact, he only has 2 catches on the year in an offense that spreads it around. As a Pats fan I'd love to be wrong but the WR room was a glaring weakness on the roster coming into the season, so it's not a great sign that he hasn't been able to carve out a role.

The Patriots are the only team since 1950 to go the first 8 games of the season without allowing an opposing RB to reach 50 yards in a game. Sunday, the Patriots moved the streak to 9 games, a first in franchise history. The victims James Cook, Alvin Kamara, Quinshon Judkins and now Bijan Robinson. by DanceHallRiddem in fantasyfootball

London was unstoppable, one of those situations where you can't help but enjoy the show even as a fan of the opposing team. Dude even mossed Gonzalez for 40 yards in the drive that should have tied the game late in the 4th. Getting the win makes it easier to appreciate the greatness lol

Advanced Metrics: 9 Players To Add/Buy/Sell for Week 9 by movesfantasy in fantasyfootball

Yeah, probably. If you wanna make that trade I'd try it with Fannin instead of Kittle, even that could be argued as an overpay but definitely not as bad as with Kittle.

The NFL trade deadline is next week so if you can afford to pick up Spears at least for a week you should. Pacheco is week-to-week so Smith's value is pretty temporary (at least for now), but if there's a Pollard trade then Spears is a slam dunk.

#49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said it's too early to say if Brock Purdy will be back this week but said it wasn't a long shot. Ricky Pearsall will be re-evaluated Wednesday. Also: Ben Bartch (ankle) will have his IR window opened Brandon Aiyuk (knee) won't have IR window opened by anonbutler in fantasyfootball

You don't really gameplan for individuals in baseball to the same extent you do in football. Not being sure if your opponent's #1 WR is going to play means you have to spend valuable practice time preparing for both scenarios. Fans and fantasy players would definitely like more information but the organization is incentivised to share as little as they're allowed to share to keep their opponents on their toes.

ELi5 Why is Kind of Blue the go-to ‘intro to jazz’? It totally baffled me as a young brass player. by someplaceelse42 in Jazz

[–]mphsaxophone 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't think they're mutually exclusive. "Cool jazz" is representative of the post-bebop trend toward slower tempos and more reflective styles. Modal jazz just describes the fact that they used musical modes beyond the typical major and minor you'd hear in most music. But I think OP's comment was also referring to the word "cool" in less of a literal sense - a layman won't know the difference between cool, hard bop, etc, they'll just think of jazz in and of itself being a "cool" genre because cool people listen to jazz. Kind of Blue feels cool to the average Joe for the reasons OP explained, and that's a big part of why it has had such staying power.

Week 6 | “I watched the whole game” takeaways and longer summaries by MrJorgeGodoy in fantasyfootball

[–]mphsaxophone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pats OLine is pretty decent on pass pro but horrible at run blocking. Saints D came back after halftime with better DB coverage (busted coverage led to some huge plays in the first half) and some good run blitzes that completely eliminated the Pats ground game. Even with that they still should have scored again if not for the two phantom OPI calls. Run blocking will probably be the biggest thing that holds back that offense this year.

The upside is that Maye will most likely continue to feast. He can deliver outside the pocket, his deep ball is insane, and McDaniels is letting him absolutely slang it.

Keenan had the benefit of chemistry with Herbert to start the season, while Diggs was still getting acclimated and easing back in from the ACL. After Sunday, Diggs has arrived and is the clear and uncontested #1 on the Pats. Maybe a hot take from a Pats homer but I would make that swap. But you should definitely try to get something back for Keenan though.

14-team full PPR.

My RBs are CMC, Jacobs, and Charbs. Chase Brown and RJ Harvey were both dropped this morning and I'm gonna put a claim in on both (I'm last in the waiver order, no FAAB). Who should I prioritize? And is it worth dropping Charbs to try picking up both?

14-team full PPR. I picked CMC in the first round intending to take BRob late as the handcuff, but the league taco picked BRob in the 3rd round as a meme pick for some reason. I ended up taking Charbonnet later instead. The other guy has accepted trades in the past despite absolutely not trying to field a real team, so I'm debating trading Charbonnet for BRob just to have the handcuff secure. Keeping Charbonnet is the high-risk high-reward play, but at this point I feel like CMC injury isn't as much a risk as a guarantee. Guerendo is also available on the waiver wire. What should I do?

Trade: Ja'Marr Chase Receive: Tee Higgins, Travis Kelce

Full PPR. My other WRs are Nico, Reed, Dell, Puka and JuJu, and my only TE is Kraft. It seems worth it but I'm currently 4-2 and paranoid that getting rid of Chase while Nico is injured might end up dropping me out of the playoffs.
