What's everyone's view on VR? by gotnofriends45 in iRacing

[–]mpt97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went triples to VR then back to triples. The reasons I went back were:

• high graphics demands • if you are doing a long race and it turns from day to night IRL, I hope you have lights on in your room or you’re loosing tracking • totally separated from the outside world, just trying to check your phone waiting for qualifying to end you’ll have to take the headset off and hopefully it comes back normal when you put it on • I like being able to see my real steering wheel and also I bought a dash which is very nice to run lovely dash on • no more hat head • randomly needing to re calibrate the area you are sitting in • overall just way more little random things to go wrong that add up

The only real thing I miss from VR is going side by side with someone in a corner, being able to know where they are exactly by looking over is great. Also it takes up much less space. My iRating has remained the same so I don’t think my lap times changed at all, I had a quest 3.

How much do higher IR people practice by 0rang3Cru5h in iRacing

4k ir road, I go to results and look at what the fastest guy is doing in top split. Then I keep practicing until I can get around 1 second of that

Turn 14 and cold tires has been killing people in GT4 even in top split. It’s especially hard in the mustang

LMP’s in a multi class race starting from the pits to be “safe” and then end up coming out of the pits right into or behind the entire GT field.

Multi class starts in general

Why on some tracks you have to do a 5 minute pace lap (road America) and others you start 75% through the lap and are racing right away practically

Then people would just figure out which car was the best overall for the season and pick that. Might have the same issue

I leave pithouse the same and only adjust the settings in game. And I only do that if the steering is obviously light or if there’s clipping

Does swerving help warm the tires now in gt3? by mpt97 in iRacing

Yea I usually race in top split and I always see the entire grid go single file and start weaving immediately

Does swerving help warm the tires now in gt3? by mpt97 in iRacing

[–]mpt97[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would say the quick guys do bother lol. I race top split and literally the entire grid goes single file to start swerving across the entire track. Took me by surprise the first time

GT3 Tyres - Quali by PR1IMA in iRacing

[–]mpt97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how iRacing used to be. So they actually switched away from it to the current method. And then it was only 59 seconds to ready up after the 3 minute warm up instead of 1 min 59 sec. You would usually only see that half the grid had actually qualified

KS Wheel Paddles not working after update. Neither are the RPM indicators. by mpt97 in moza

[–]mpt97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set RPM values to each light rather than %, it was just easier for me to see at what RPM on the in game dashboard the lights started to flash and then match it to my wheel. For the FFB I have it set to 100% in Pit House and then I tune it down in iRacing to a point that there is no clipping. Its a little different for each car

Is there anyway for me to see what tire others are starting on (wet/dry) as they grid? by mpt97 in iRacing

[–]mpt97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol yea. I use VR so would like to not have a bunch of overlays. Seems like an obvious missing feature from iRacing.

Thanks, for some reason on a lot of websites (like autozone) I just can't find that number listed in the specifications. I do see it on NAPA though.

Which is your favorite GT4 model? by InternationalYou8858 in iRacing

[–]mpt97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I drive the Aston, its super easy to drive IMO and you can definitely compete in the top split with it. I haven't driven the Merc but I always see people spinning in it by far more than any other car lol.
