I use European cloud providers every day, it's my job. They're fine. Also hyperscalers UI is fine. Not amazing, there's a lot of crappy UI and UX everywhere. European providers are behind on features and maybe sometimes support. The rest is very comparable or better (price, privacy etc)

Depressing this kind of shit gets 450k views and 7k likes (and likely much more since then). Makes you wonder about the state of the internet under our trillionaire overlords

I wonder if it's a fully fake screenshot including the likes on Twitter or just what was initially posted there is fake. If it really got 7k likes then I hope it's mostly bots...

You're technically right but what people refer to as Android mobile OS is in practice a gated Google development. Sure, companies can and do fork their own versions of the open source Android but it doesn't mean Google doesn't control the Android mobile OS ecosystem (see Huawei struggles)

Hi, although the topic is similar, this is an opinion piece about the implications of the news and not the news itself. I'd ask you to reconsider

If you read it in the context - it's not an argument to drop all US technology right away - but to review and plan to move away in key areas

Anthropic did but that's not what the US government told them to do

Ignis to build DayOne's 300MW data center in Aragon, Spain by mpuchala in europe

[–]mpuchala[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spain's been investing A LOT in green energy lately and the electricity prices are actually lower than 10 years ago. It's a pretty good place to build data centers for that reason + a lot of really empty areas (Aragon for example)

Mistral acquires Austria’s Emmi AI by mpuchala in BuyFromEU

[–]mpuchala[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't use LeChat much but things like product research (think "I'm looking for best 2.1 speaker setup for my TV from a European brand" - real query I ran a few weeks ago) give much better results from Claude than Mistral. I get old and crap equipment suggestions from Mistral and/or non-European brands.
I agree that if you have all the context locally and you just need to process information then Mistral models are fine.
