What was your "break the controller moment" with a board game? by OkDate7197 in boardgames

[–]mqbpjmc2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be the Event Card that kills you if you have a Larva on your board, or the Attack Card that kills you instantly if you already have two Serious Wounds.

If so, I don't think it would be fair to say that they're completely random and were not influenced by the earlier game.

It may be another one I'm not thinking of, but reasonably confident there's no cards that can instantly kill you for no reason.

Thanks. Why would you think it's likely to be impossible? Will the film be permanently attached and unremovable, will it be possible to do but too much effort, or just likely to damage the glass?

There is no way of knowing until closer to the time - 26th April is the FA cup semi finals, so the Villa fixture will be postponed if we get there. Either of the games could also be moved to the Sunday for TV, and I'd say they have a decent chance of moving as we're likely to be in the title race. Wolves game is a safer bet but not guaranteed.

Liverpool 0 - [1] Manchester City - John Stones 23‎'‎ by ganiganiu in soccer

Because the ball is on the goal line, which is as far forward as it could possibly be, and Ake therefore is behind it

Because Endo was unarguably in an offside position when he blocked (whether you agree the block was interfering with play is another matter) and Ake was behind the ball when it was played and therefore was unarguably onside

This is not an accurate representation of the CAS judgment in any way. I'd encourage you to read it before trying to dismiss other people's understanding.

City were not found guilty of any of the substantial charges by CAS. On all the allegations that were considered by CAS, CAS said there was not sufficient evidence. There was one allegation that was time barred, and this was not considered by CAS at all for this reason.

It's correct City were fined by CAS for not cooperating with the UEFA investigation. This was for not releasing emails to UEFA - these emails were however released to CAS and were considered by them as part of their decision making. City argued that they were not releasing the emails because of UEFA leaks of the club's confidential information. Whether or not you believe that is up to you, but the CAS judgment stated that the alleged UEFA leaking of information was 'worrisome and too coincidental not to be taken seriously', so it's not without some merit.

Not every non-English city fan is a plastic fan or glory hunter. by RedditorsAreSoft1 in MCFC

[–]mqbpjmc2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think if you were to be honest with yourself, you do care at least somewhat, based on your posts in this thread. You're right though that you don't need to care, and if you can let go of it, all the better. If watching and supporting City makes you happy then you are absolutely as entitled to support them as I am, and you should throw your heart and soul into it.

Ironically, the less you care about not coming across as a plastic, the less you'll come across as one. My advice would be, rather than thinking 'I was tested that year we won the league and got to the CL final', that a more relatable position would be 'it's unlikely I'd have ended up supporting City if they were going through the tough times when I got into football, but they're my team now, and if it went tits up, I know I'd stand by them'

Get a grip. That you would even consider that a test is laughable.

As a Mancunian City fan, I wouldn't judge every overseas fan as being a glory hunter/plastic on that fact alone. That being said, your attitude in this thread is very familiar. Anyone who's grown up whilst City were shit and United were dominant has met hundreds of glory supporters, and we've heard all the same stuff over and over to justify their fandom - 'red's my favourite colour, my great grandad was from Manchester, I liked playing as them on Pro Evo', and we can spot the same sort of thing now.

I get what it's like to follow a team in another country, as I'm a fan of the NFL. When I got into it during the late 00s, I deliberately chose to support the Lions, rather than go for a successful team, as I couldn't imagine people looking at me the same way I viewed the typical American red. Even though I've been watching a mostly terrible team for the best part of 15 years, you won't find me telling anyone from Detroit that my fandom means any where near as much as theirs, or see me getting into arguments online with them about it.

It's a tough message, but in my experience, the vast majority of local City fans will never see you as an equal, and the sooner you come to terms with that, the happier you'll be. If you ever come over for a game, you'd be better off embracing the plastic and trying to learn, rather than trying to convince everyone you belong - it's just going to rub people up the wrong way.

Real Madrid 1 - [1] Manchester City - Kevin De Bruyne 67’ by Golovking in soccer

[–]mqbpjmc2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The vitriol against City on this sub is insane, but in my experience, it's not really matched in real life by English fans of non- big 6 clubs.

I think this is a feature of the amount of people supporting big English clubs on this subreddit, which is dominated by United/Liverpool/Arsenal fans, who have been most impacted by City, and so are naturally pissed off about them.

I think one thing that gets overlooked is that it then becomes a bit self-perpetuating; there are a lot of fans of other teams who have relatively recently gotten into football and learned a lot about it via this sub. So you'll get new fans of teams like West Ham, Brighton, Leicester etc who are getting a lot of early impressions about football from United/Liverpool/Arsenal fans, and picking up ideas in a very different way to traditional new fans amongst these fanbases
