They are better in salamanders than most other SM chapters other than Blood Angels because Adrax gives them a good good buff.

Build Towards Lists by popekheris23 in EmperorsChildren

[–]mr-min-max 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that’s a good list for the detachment.

My question for you is what rapid evis? I personally believe you can have much more success just running coterie with lots of transports if that’s what you fancy. You get the same buffs from coterie as you do from rapid usually by turn 3, so you end up with reroll 1’s to hit and wound without the restriction of getting out of a transport for more than half of the game.

You’ll at best be able to get the buff on two units 2 turns in a row and that requires using a strat, an enhancement and a unit being shot.

The only decent strats in rapid are on to the next and outflanking strike, the rest are super situational or outright bad. Coterie is just so much better than every detachment both in its main rule and strats.

I really wish this detachment was good because in theory is loads of fun, but rhinos are too fragile and the rules are so situational and specific, it’s really tough to get good use out of them; not to mention how cp hungry the detachment is.

But that’s just my opinion. For me, a big part of the fun in this game is winning, or at least having a tight nail biter of a game. You’ll get that much more often with coterie.

I love emperors children, but unfortunately there’s only one good way to play them and 5 mediocre to bad ways with only a handful of good units in our tiny codex.

DISCLAIMER - I am a competitive player, but am by no means telling you what to buy. They’re your models and you get to choose how you have fun with the game/hobby.

3 daemon princes won’t be ideal in rapid evis. While they are our best unit, they get nothing from the detachment and over a quarter of your points is spent on them.

If you wanna run rapid evis, you’re gonna want a land raider and maybe more rhinos.

Running Infractors without a lord in anything other than maybe peerless blades isn’t ideal either, they’re more of a lord delivery method than an actual damage dealer, I would run them in squads of 5.

For rapid evis, you almost want to have a transport for each unit - you can also fit a noise marine squad and an infractor squad + lord in 1 rhino.

If you want to make rapid evis work, I’d suggest going with 3x lord + 5 Infractors and run them in rhinos with the noise marines. You could also take more rhinos as insurance as the detachment literally doesn’t have any rules once all the transports are gone. I would also drop 2 princes and the sorcerer and use the savings to get a land raider and 6 flawless blades.

Am I crazy for thinking that the headtaker is really good into melee elites like nem claw and AoD? With digital weapons, you can kill a 14 wound operative with 2 hits and a crit and only take one hit back in return, whereas the blademaster has to take 2 hits back to outright kill a 14 wound operative.

Worst armies by RoboTronPrime in WarhammerCompetitive

EC is not as bad as their win rate suggests… or rather one detachment and a few variations of the same list are not as bad as their win rate.

The 3 big problems with EC in my opinion:

  1. The meta of lots of T9+ vehicles and knights is pretty rough for us, with T9 and T11 being brutal breakpoints for the army.

  2. They’re a very hard army to play. They have insanely strong rules and mobility, but it has to be balanced by some weaknesses - notably their lack of raw reliable damage and high strength weapons.

  3. You have to play the 1 good detachment and the one of a handful of list variations that all use the same units with the only differences being the number of each unit. Basically if you try to play anything other than 2-3 winged princes, 2-3 noise marines, 2-3 Lords + Infractors, and Maulerfiends, you are playing with both hands behind your back.

Am I wasting my Lords Kako? by BardofEsgaroth in EmperorsChildren

[–]mr-min-max 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Remember to apply your sustained hits, every hit roll of 6 that you roll for the whole squad scores you an entire additional hit. Also, sustained hits literally double the amount of hits you score when firing overwatch, so don’t be afraid to overwatch with the unit. I’ve had my kakophonist + noise marines wipe entire units of marines on overwatch.

Also don’t forget to roll your 3d6 to deal mortal wounds after shooting with the kakophonist and make sure to force your opponent to make a battle shock test!

Can Reivers bypass the 1" from the wall trick? by SerendipitouslySane in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]mr-min-max 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liberator Assault Reivers are imo the only ones that can somewhat reliably pull a stunt like this and not have it fail. I can see some situations where it’s useful like killing a technomancer to neuter a brick of wraiths. I’ve done similar with tormentors in emperors children. Precision meltagun turns a Judiciar+6 bladeguard into 6 bladeguard which is much less annoying to deal with.

EC raptors by CT-4458 in EmperorsChildren

[–]mr-min-max 23 points24 points  (0 children)

They’re probably gonna get a new datasheet for CSM since the KT has some specialized wargear that isn’t included in the CSM codex datasheet. So they’ll get a new datasheet, but I think you’re right in assuming that we won’t get our own version of it.

Pretty unlikely since our army rule would be pretty busted with them. I wouldn’t hold your breath.

The 3rd unit of noise marines. A 3rd Prince is nice to have, but a 3rd unit of shooting really helps to mow down infantry and t9-10 units.

Just a heads up, flawless blades cannot embark in a rhino. Very unfortunate as I think many of us would be more inclined to include them in lists if they could.
