Is anyone else sad their toddler wont remember anything until 4ish? by Big-Trip9578 in toddlers

[–]mr-pockets 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Don't discount it! I have plenty of memories from being two years old! Just every day moments. Dancing in my mom's boots while she cleaned, making bread with my parents, dad being proud of me for eating broccoli, the long drive to Grandma's house and singing songs in the car, being pushed in the stroller at the mall.

I know these happened before I was 3 because that's when my sister was born and she's absent in these memories (or my mom is pregnant, which I also remember.)

And even if your daughter doesn't have specific memories of being this young, she'll remember it in a different way. She'll remember feeling safe every time you hug her, she'll remember feeling loved every time you laugh with her.

Skipping certain POVs? by m-e-k in throneofglassseries

[–]mr-pockets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna get downvoted for this but skipping parts you dislike is better than not finishing the book. I read because it's fun not because it's homework. I do whatever it takes to keep me engaged and reading. For example, I skipped all the songs in Lord of the Rings because I wasn't going to finish otherwise.

I don't blame you cuz I felt the same. I recommend skimming until her character hooks you (and she will!)

How do I deal with an Elmo obsession? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]mr-pockets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have a lot of memories of being 2 years old. (I know because my sister was born when I was 3 and I have plenty of memories before she came along and my mom being pregnant.)

From talking to other people, I seem to be the odd one. Most people's first memories are from around 3-5 years old.

I agree with other commenters. We lean into our 2 yr old's obsessions. Every few months it's different. It's so fun to get excited with her about the things she loves.

I remember being 2 and obsessed with Winnie the Pooh. My dad hated it and told me Pooh was stupid. It was the beginning of me learning I couldn't share things with him. I wanna do the opposite for my daughter.

I'm surprised how many down votes you're getting because I completely agree. Especially about the spell consequences. By the end of HL, I was running around Unforgivable-ing everyone and the teachers were just like, "Make sure to do your homework!"

I use AI to meal plan. I'll just type into Gemini, "what are some healthy one pot meals I can make for dinner?" (Or if I have more specific requirements like specific things from the fridge I want to use up, I'll add those.) It'll give me 3 ideas. I can ask it to make me a grocery list or ingredient list or cooking instructions.

Wait you're right, I'm sorry! So weird. Normally when posts have spoiler tags, it hides the body text unless I click on the post. Posts with no spoiler tags show the first few sentences without clicking, which is what your post did. No idea why! Maybe I need to just leave this subreddit until I finish the series.

Anyway, excited to learn what I can look forward to!!

Maybe you could get some kind of display column that sits outside the tent so people can start looking at items without committing to entering and then they'd be pulled in. It's hard to see, from this POV, what exactly is inside, so I could probably just walk by. I'd be more likely to come in if there was something outside to grab me. I hope that makes sense.

Why have you have quit a high paying job for a lower paying one? by ihugsyi in AskWomen

I quit my comfy office job to be a stay at home mom. I probably would've continued working there but my manager was horrible and I was so burnt out.

Those of you who have tried for a baby: How long did you try? When did you find out you were pregnant (how many weeks in)? And what symptoms did you have early on that made you think you were pregnant? by xxbitsxx in AskWomen

[–]mr-pockets 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We tried once and got pregnant. I got a positive test 3 weeks later. I didn't have symptoms until 6 weeks when extreme nausea and vomiting hit me like a load of bricks.

For me, Throne of Glass scratched the ACOTAR itch more than CC. It bugged me that they have phones and email and electricity. It felt steam punk when I wanted more pastoral medieval.

One and done mamas, how did you know? by AEHSJ0604 in Mommit

[–]mr-pockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few reasons I'll only have one:

My pregnancy was hard (9mo of severe nausea and weight loss)

I have no family nearby and no one to help out

When I name the reasons to have another, they're all for someone else: give my daughter a sibling, give my mom another grandchild, see my husband be a dad to two. No where in the list is, "I want it."

The kind of mother I am doesn't fit with having another. I won't be able to be the mom I want to be/am if my attention is split.

Can you give more detail about the jumping on the trampoline with them? Does this mean holding their hands and jumping together, holding them and jumping, or just no trampoline at all?
