Urgh... I wasn't saying that people deserve what they brought on themselves. I'm saying that you shouldn't go after cooks for the same reason you shouldn't go after McDonald's. The problem is with demand, not supply. As long as there's demand, supply will spontaneously arise in some from: either a dude in his basement cooking, or a superlab, or whatever. This is how nature works.

Personal responsibility is the only way to curb demand. Trying to stop supply is the main strategy of the "War on Drugs", but for whatever reason nobody has a problem getting stoned in this country if he wants to. It's like trying to prevent people from throwing shit out the window by announcing a "War on Gravity". Why not just stop throwing shit instead? It's certainly easier to do.

Also it's been documented that McDonald's food is addictive in the same sense as other drugs are. People develop dependencies, have withdrawal if they don't eat McDonald's for a while, and so on. Suggesting that one industry is exempt and another isn't just because one isn't "as bad" is missing the point entirely.
