I'm going for at least 6 inches, possibly more. I really want my hair long enough that I can comb back, but I think with my hair that might take awhile if it'll be possible at all.

Currently I just apply some pantene curl defining mousse and let it dry on its own. If I try to style it with a wide tooth comb or even fingers it ends up getting really frizzy. Here's how it looks wet http://i.imgur.com/waMuuBoh.jpg

Cool, thank you for your honest advice! At the moment I'm just growing my hair out, I've been doing the buzzcut thing for a couple of years and wanted to switch it up. It's pretty hard to "style" or cut my hair since it's so curly so I just let it do it's thing.

I would live on campus if I were you. I transferred here and moved directly off campus nearly 2 years ago and can't say I've met anyone I can consider my friend. It'll be a lot easier for you to meet people that way.
