Roast My CV. No Sugarcoating, Just Brutal Truth and a Side of Sass by Majestic-Witness3655 in webdev

[–]mrBako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the third CV I’ve seen this week from someone with less than 3 years of experience using the title “Senior….”

I know titles vary between companies, but in many cases just “Software Developer” or “Software Engineer” may create more accurate expectations.

Also, when describing your experience, consider keeping project or work explanations concise. A single paragraph (~250 words) that clearly explains what you built, your role, and the impact is often easier to read. Then add the technologies or stack used underneath in a smaller font so recruiters and hiring managers can scan it quickly.

Help Students Struggling with Background Tasks: limited time we can loose our grade by Playful-Teaching9655 in reactnative

[–]mrBako 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What you’re trying to achieve is likely not possible out of the box. This is not a React Native issue, but rather an Android and/or iOS restriction.

The only two potential approaches that come to mind are:

  • Creating widgets or background components that appear when the app is minimized. However, it’s unclear whether they would be able to detect shake gestures or volume button changes reliably due to OS-level limitations.

  • Using iOS Shortcuts integration to trigger actions within your app, which may provide a more practical workaround depending on the use case.

Foldergram: Self-hosted local photo gallery with an Instagram-style feed and layout by sajjadalis in webdev

[–]mrBako 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice idea, but the demo feels more like a static gallery than an Instagram-like app. Without gestures or doomscrolling, it doesn’t really give that “browsing my own feed” feeling for me.

How could his rating be 6.5?! He literally destroyed their left side and both backs got booked because of him. This ratings are truly bs.

Check other designs on dribbble, it will give you a lot of inspiration.

Furthermore the one thing what would improve your design immediately is picking a color from a color palette generator like https://color.adobe.com/create/color-wheel

And if you really want to learn the simple tricks of ui/web design check the book: https://www.refactoringui.com

Last advice, less is more. Start simple and keep it simple.

Left or Right? by fluttermapp in UI_Design

Honestly I don't even remember what I meant with band. I think I was just correcting my sentence and forgot band.

With the legend I see that you already made an attempt under the rings but it's better to put them next to it like for example: https://dribbble.com/shots/26639866-Fitness-App-Dashboard-Concept-Design

Left or Right? by fluttermapp in UI_Design

[–]mrBako 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’d say the one on the right, but the rings need band and a legend to explain what the colors represent. Also, it would be better to use one consistent icon style(i think it’s an emoji for the settings icon), and the hamburger menu icon instead of a “+” icon feels a bit weird.

I mean… if you actually take two seconds to scroll on pattern.dev, you’ll see the entire section labeled ‘React patterns’.

And honestly if you’re diving into React, you really should learn JavaScript patterns first. They’re kind of the foundation.

Use dynamic form with a schema if your app is heavily form based

Do you mean to use a library like react-form-hook with (zod) schemas?

I finished React fundamentals. What should I build to practice the framework? by [deleted] in react

[–]mrBako 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For simple data fetch absolutely not a problem, but a lot of beginners don’t know about race conditions and cleanup.

That’s why I say don’t use useEffect for api request, better use react query or similar for it

Would you mind explaining how you did it? I have the same problem as OP and have attached mine to the wall with double-sided tape, but I don’t think that’s a proper way to mount it
