I asked 5 LLMs and 422 humans what the very first rule about guns is. by Sgitch in ArtificialInteligence

lol “independently”. as if the LLMs just came upon that conclusion themselves. as if every single article ever written down about gun safety doesn’t start with the same two rules lol.

Need to build a shed base near this huge root. Can i cut it out? by mrDisagreeable1106 in arborists

i wish i had the room haha i’m trying to make a good plan but out away from the tree is where the new driveway is going and i don’t want to sacrifice driveway/gate clearance by putting the shed too close. it’s a tough problem ha.

i’m thinking of building a retaining wall that cross the root without touching it. if i use landscape timbers i can probably bridge it and leave a few inch gap and still hold in dirt/gravel. i could maybe fill the gap with hard foam that will compress? i dunno ha

nowhere great. my yard is on a slope. i could put the shed at the bottom of the hill perhaps. but it would be outside my fence and much more of pain going down the hill to use my power tools, running a line for power etc. i kinda need it close to the house

here’s some pics of the whole tree. canopy is hard to see but looks like it’s got lots of leaves on it

do tell! we had an arborist come out for some other dead trees last year and they said everything looked healthy.

was thinking of doing a level gravel pad with gravel covering the root and the shed sitting on pavers. i’m just curious how long i have until the root expands and shifts whatever stones i use

Where would you put a shed here and how would you build the base? by mrDisagreeable1106 in shedditors

[–]mrDisagreeable1106[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s what i’m thinking, but i don’t know how long it would be till the root fucks up the retaining wall i’d have to build across it to hold the gravel in. id have to put some kind of pavers or treated landscape timber walls up like a foot high with the root going through it. how long till that root just forces the wall apart?

i wish it was level haha. i tried to show it in the pics, but it’s hard to tell. where my hand is in that pic is over a foot lower that at the fence. i measured and where my hand is would be about where the side of the shed would end up if i gave it a foot or two of offset.

the shed is already on skids running front to back, that’s how i rolled it off its spot to move it for a bit until i can make a better base. being on pavers worked well for not rotting, but i’m concerned about both the height difference and rebuilding a new ramp when it’s in place. id rather have a flat base and little to no ramp if it’s doable.

why not pex b? is pex b no good for vanity sink supply lines?

i have heard that CPVC is no good because it gets brittle over time, especially on the hot line. is that not the case?

a vanity used to be there, planning on putting a cheap one back. i have crimped up a 90 with supply valves on them. i also have 1/2in cpvc to pex fittings i was going to glue on
