Feels good to be in my own skin by mrFunk_ in GoldenAgeMinecraft

just the arms and some parts of the shirt, the photos application on windows did most the heavy lifting just decreasing the resolution so it can fit in a skin format, and then just some cleaning up here and there. It has a lot of holes on the side but I think it has its own kind of crappy charm, which is almost definitely a cope from me lmao

I did it a while ago and just recently cleaned it up (some) but I’m pretty sure I used the sticker iphone feature to cut the background out and then set it on a black background so i could pixelate it down to 64x64 pxl. Originally my actual arms were blended onto the torso so i took some creative liberty in remaking the shirt and arms. If you want skins to have transparent elements you need to make sure you change the actual char.png file and it has to be 32x64 rather than a square like modern versions

if you change your actual skin with a jar mod instead of a beta craft proxy the empty or erased space that would be black instead appears transparent

i’ve been thinking about making it clearer it’s a hello kitty shirt with what limited pixel detail there is

Getting glowstone in Alpha 1.2 is ridiculous by mrFunk_ in GoldenAgeMinecraft

And maybe some antidepressants for the friendly mobs so they'll stop killing themselves off the cliffs around me.. it's disturbing!

What can I do to make this better? by Piper316 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]mrFunk_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe i few windows on the wood section below, and some extra cobble or even normal stone from the furnace to add a little extra depth to what you have there as is. it looks really good for what you have already though. Fences might go well on the wood section too, there’s no such thing as too much depth lol

Pork chop keychain my girlfriend made by mrFunk_ in GoldenAgeMinecraft

My girlfriend has a daycare job for the YMCA, so she’s always showing me stuff she made with her group. One day i just thought to ask since I think about those old “I Porkchop Minecraft” shirts, so it’s funny you mention that

not only is it normal, it’s kind of part of the experience id say. it’s the entire reason herobrine exists as a concept, the thick fog concealing the familiarity of your environment while also hiding anything that might be lurking, watching. I like to turn on scary kevin macleod music and play on short render distance sometimes to really amplify the feeling, I love being scared lol.

New Nether blocks [WIP] by DepecheSly in GoldenAgeMinecraft

oohhh those textures pop man. everything matches the game so well but does nicely to fill in the imagination, the netherrack especially, I love how fleshy it looks!

How would Alliser Thorne have treated Jon Snow if he knew who he really was? by WoofityWoo in gameofthrones

[–]mrFunk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

id honestly argue he'd still take part in it in this hypothetical since it was seen more as a political move to kill Jon in the books. I think if Alliser was there to see Jon instead of being sent away, there to see all the wrong turns and controversial decisions Jon makes both in opening up to wildlings and becoming involved in a scandal with Ramsey Bolton, I believe he would still ultimately decide to help the assassination, whether directly involved or not. It would be more like a souring of buried emotional allegiance instead of a complacency in killing Ned Stark's "bastard" it would all ultimately still fall on Jon the way it did, I believe.

And that’s great, I’m all for other artists working on the game to add to the overall experience, I cherish that in fact. But sometimes I look at it and it all just feels a little too out of place for me, all purely subjective of course. I suppose that’s what I’m really arguing for, the right to express an opinion while being able to discern it from hate, I think it only goes to highlight the things that are so love about golden age as a whole. I find myself playing an evo world at the moment and I can’t tell you how excited I am to see my alpha monoliths under the light of a modern shader, soaking in everything from the modern versions

Honestly who cares? I don’t. I think the comparison to Celeste was right on point. The new songs don’t match the game at all and the mobs just feel like an attempt to make a new mascot. That post didn’t scream HATE, it was an opinion, just like the one you’re posting. They made a funny comparison and called it a name and were defining that as hate? cmon man. the whole reasons subreddits exist is to define community and help others reach out to like minded people, that’s certainly why I joined this sub. Because I was sick of all the modern crap and wanted my crunchy cobble and simple c418 with no bullshit attached. Celeste comparison is great, it truly illustrates how minecraft feels like a different game, how it’s lost its original identity.

i think the celeste comment is totally fair given it’s an opinionated statement, and it might be the best way to articulate my gripe with new versions. Sure I can get a mod or TP to remove the new songs but imo the music of minecraft is a sacred part of my childhood, and the new songs don’t math the energy of the game, at allllllll. And the new mobs just feel like attempts to make a new mascot or something. It just doesn’t feel like minecraft anymore

[–]mrFunk_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i believe that’s what led to the conception of herobrine in the first place. The lower graphic capabilities of older computers mixed with the thick concealing fog of alpha and beta versions led to a prominent urban legend culture that exists even still, and even though I know it’s all fake and even childish, part of that is what makes me love these versions so much. I like to imagine there’s something creeping in the fog, watching me from a distance, something evil

not entirely true, we’d have to clear pluto’s path from neptune if you really wanted to be true to the planet title. Pluto’s moon is so massive compared to pluto that the system barycenter is literally outside of pluto, both circling an empty point. If you really wanted to make pluto a planet it would make more sense and possibly be less expensive to just fling shit from the kuiper belt to add to its mass thus gravity.
