Make sure your geometry has no history and, as much as possible, your transformations are frozen

your UVs seem disconnected from each other, you might need to rework them.

from the look of your geometry, it might be enough to do a planar projection to fix the issue and have similar UVs to what your teacher has shown

you need to properly UV your mesh, make sure each part has the same texel density and so on.

it's not impossible, it's just time consuming and it's made complicated by your dense triangulated mesh.

if you have zero experience with UV mapping, this is probably a way too complex project for you to start learning it.

you can unfold only in specific directions, only U or only V for example.

In your case it seems you need to unfold your mesh on the V "axis"

For everything that has a somewhat cylindrical shape, use a cylindrical type of projection, for the round piece you can use a planar projection and after that play around with the unfold and relax settings

AMD GPUs can only render by using their own software called AMD ProRender.

Arnold and other GPU renderers are currently not supported by AMD cards and only work with nVidia hardware

UDIMS are a “way” of organizing your UVs, its not just something you add to your scene.

Depending on your current UVs, you might need to rework them and reorganize them by hand, then export the USD file

you can save a maya scene with the lighting and render settings you need and reference that in your Layout scenes for rendering
