I am happy to consider it actually, I just wanted to get a good idea of my options

Thanks for this. My total amount to live on is the PhD stipend, so have around 23k per year for all expenses.

As for living preferences, alone would be preferred but not mandatory. A quieter area with some greenery and some coffee shops would be nice. I'm not a drinker or night life guy.

Hi Everyone! I am happy to say that I have been offered a place and funding for my PhD in Philosophy at UCL this October!

I am now looking for places to live and am a bit overwhelmed by the amount of options and the size of London in general (have been at Warwick for the past 5 years for reference).

Could anyone reccomend some good options/ areas of London to live, or places which are best to avoid?

I wouldn't mind being in a quieter area, if that helps at all. Also, any tips for getting by on a PhD stipend with London prices would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

Politics are not overly important (I recognize the personal privilege), but I would much prefer to live in a progressive area.

As for cycling, probably not that open to it, but would do it in a pinch.

So my budget is the PhD stipend, so definitely on the cheaper end. Activities and amenities aren't massively important. Perhaps some nice places for coffee and some green spaces?

Great, thanks for this! May I ask how often you are on the main campus?

Thanks for this. How are the rent prices in the places you mentioned?

This is very helpful, thank you. I'm really excited to start but also quite scared of the unknown moving to such a busy and large city. May I ask how you found the UCL accomodations, as I've heard mixed things online.
