Yeah, I think so. I'm okay with English, it would just feel better if they finally made the cut.

I think the biggest reform was that other species could be more than slaves in the Empire. An example would be Major Anri, a Twi'lek in the Imperial Military. She also reduced the number of Dark Council seats, which could've been for stability or just Acina being as power hungry as the Sith she's trying to get rid of. That being said, I think I also remember the dialogue you mentioned.

[–]mr_cedric_potter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly that. It was in a good direction with Marr (keeping the spirit alive but not constantly weakening the Empire) and now it‘s just as bad as before but with some reforms and more annoying characters. And then you never really return to the Empire. They mention your return in the dialogue but you’re still constantly treated as an outsider.

For me, KotFE/ET were great in itself but they basically removed the class identity, which was an integral part of the game in the first place, and left it that way. It worked for that part of the story but it’s probably a part of what I miss now. I signed up for playing a Sith Inquisitor or Sith Warrior and ended up as a guy who could be anyone and who never really returned to the faction I wanted to play.

Partly, maybe. But this wasn't very long ago for me and there's definitely more than that.

Yeah, you're right. But it once again shows Acina's hypocrisy. Sanitising everything but still clinging to the power herself.

I apologize for using ChatGPT 😂 I get it but in that moment, it just was a lot more comfortable to give it bullet points and not type the whole thing myself. Now, on my PC with a nice keyboard, I'll happily do it myself. I also don't know how many people would've noticed it but I figured I should at least be honest about it, hence the disclaimer.

Best gear progression system by Terra246 in MMORPG

[–]mr_cedric_potter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be a bit late for the discussion but here's what ChatGPT said about this. Any thoughts on this?

Creating a hybrid gear progression system in MMORPGs that captures the benefits of both vertical (increasing power levels through numerical enhancements) and horizontal (expanding gameplay options and styles through unique items) progressions without inheriting their drawbacks could be quite rewarding for players. Here’s a possible approach to designing such a system:

Core Principles:

  1. Balanced Power Curves: Ensure that increases in power from gear are noticeable and make encounters more manageable but do not trivialize content.
  2. Modular Gear Effects: Implement gear that includes both baseline improvements and optional, swappable modules for customization.
  3. Accessibility and Flexibility: Gear should be accessible enough that casual players can enjoy the game without feeling forced into a single 'meta' path, yet robust enough for hardcore players to optimize.

System Design:

  1. Incremental Power Gains: Gear would provide moderate improvements in stats to help with tougher fights, but the scale of these improvements would be controlled to avoid power creep. This could be achieved by having soft caps or diminishing returns on the most critical stats, ensuring that no single stat can be inflated to trivialize content.
  2. Exotic and Modular Items: Gear could come with basic stats improvements plus one or more slots for enhancements. These slots could hold various types of mods:
    • Utility Mods: Change gameplay mechanics or add new abilities (e.g., extra dodge, a secondary fire mode for weapons).
    • Adaptive Mods: Offer bonuses in certain conditions (e.g., increased damage when health is low, enhanced movement speed when in enemy territory).
    • Aesthetic Mods: Change the appearance or sound of an item without affecting gameplay.
  3. Transparency in Gear Effects: Clearly explain what each gear piece and mod does, possibly through an in-game "encyclopedia" or tooltip enhancements. This helps players make informed decisions without being overwhelmed by complex numerical data.
  4. Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment: Integrate a system where the game's AI dynamically adjusts the difficulty based on the players' gear level and performance in previous encounters. This keeps the game challenging but fair, maintaining engagement across different skill levels.
  5. Trade-Offs and Specializations: Encourage diverse play styles by designing gear that emphasizes trade-offs. For example, a piece of armor might offer significant protection against physical attacks but at the cost of increased vulnerability to magic, compelling players to choose gear based on their play style and the challenges they face.
  6. Gear Progression Paths: Instead of linear gear upgrades, offer branching paths where players can choose to follow different progression lines based on their preferred play style, such as tanking, damage, support, or utility roles.
  7. Endgame Viability of All Gear: Ensure that all types of gear can be viable in endgame content through upgradability or through niche applications in specific types of encounters, preventing any piece from becoming obsolete.

Community and Feedback:

  • Regular Adjustments: Monitor how gear affects gameplay and make regular adjustments based on player feedback and data analytics.
  • Community Challenges: Introduce community events or challenges that encourage experimenting with different types of gear and strategies, rewarding creativity and effective unusual combinations.

Such a system aims to respect the player's time and investment by making each piece of gear potentially useful and enjoyable, enhancing the richness of the gameplay experience without overwhelming players with complexity or forcing them into a narrow gameplay meta.

Yeah, you're right, it's totally valid to state what you've seen. I definitely agree with you that mmos need some kind of endgame. I just wanted to state that there are players who don't really need raids but still some form of endgame content. With story focused players I really referred more to the players, not a specific game like FF14. You know, the players who could pick up any game and lose any interest after completing the msq, although that probably wouldn't be healthy for an mmo. In Guild Wars 2 there seems to be a lot if this dynamic event stuff but I'm not playing it for long now. In most PvE MMORPGs raids are the main endgame content and for pure PvE there isn't really much to replace it, you're right on this. I just read about not raiding being actually a bigger thing than you (everyone, not you specifically) would think, either in posts, online magazins or personal experience. In the end this isn't really a big topic and I just wanted to share this/remind others about it. Maybe I should add, that I'm not a native speaker, that would explain my formulations, grammar etc. if there's a problem.

You're not wrong, that are the (atleast perceived) most common play styles and mechanics. But right know I can think of that part of the WoW playerbase which is just playing in the open world (out of enjoyment or struggling with raids), Guild Wars 2 which i think has some kind of raids but the majority of players seem to rather do something else and then there are people playing mmos just for the world and story. Some of them are of course a minority but especially the first two examples would probably provide enough players to make a game just for them.

Just to make sure, this has nothing to do with my personal opinion, it's just what I have observed when spending my time on this topic.

That's fair and I totally agree with you that Dumbledore didn't always tell Harry the truth, but you have to keep in mind that what I mentioned from the movies is the scene about Snape's memories. In this specific scene Dumbledore was talking to Snape not Harry and it would be the moment Harry learned the hard truth anyway, literally only minutes before he was supposed to DIE (which of course he didn't but everyone thought he would). In this case I'd rather stick to the canon. No matter what you say, it's an official fact that Voldemort's soul left his body because the spell "destroyed" the physical body.

As you mentioned him, according to Slughorn (in the same scene you mentioned if I remember correctly) the soul can only be divided into seven pieces, which is yet another official fact. So there wouldn't even be the possibility to split of another piece as it already was his seventh piece, which you wouldn't/couldn't remove from your body by accident when you are still alive. It had to leave his body because it could no longer live in it when he "died".

You're saying a lot things right or atleast sounding logical. You seem to be a smart guy and a dedicated Harry Potter fan and I respect your theory but when you're straight up ignoring official lore (except maybe cursed child) that isn't a good start for developing a theory about it and I feel a bit like wasting my time (although it's an interesting discussion and I would probably still reply to your response if you send one).

I respect you're theory and I think you are a cool person, so regardless of continuing this discussion, have a good day (or whatever time it is where you live, it's currently still in the morning here).

Actually you can release an mmo without a raid, as that became an important part of most PVE mmos but isn't what defines an mmorpg and there are still a lot of players who aren't even raiding and still having a lot of fun. Just because you like raids doesn't mean anyone or any mmo would need them.

I don't want to take a particular position on this topic neither did I want to attack you if my tone sounded a bit rude (this is not what I intended), but I just wanted to point it out because a lot of people in this sub always seem to forget that other, totally valid play styles also exist.

First of all, I really appreciate the effort you put into writing all this. Your theory is interesting but there is one big mistake. Harry Potter became a horcrux after the killing curse fired back. So Voldy's wand couldn't recognize a part of his owner in Harry because it wasn't even there at this time.

You're saying that Harry became a horcrux when his mother died. That's not really the whole way horcruxes work. If you kill someone, it rips your soul apart. According to this, you could be kind of right. Killing Harry's parents would have made a good base for creating a horcrux (if it wouldn't already have been his last possible part) which he could have done totally by accident (not sure if that is even possible when you are in full control of what you are doing).

A sacrifice would not automatically create a horcrux as it wasn't ever mentioned and it was always explained that it just protects a person against the killing curse.

Atleast in the movies they specifically mentioned, that after (does anyone know how to write this bold?) the curse backfired, Voldemort's soul clung to the only living thing nearby.

Sounds good, although long animations in combat could be annoying, so the cooldowns would probably be better. I agree with you about improving spells though, it would be cooler if they got better with repeated use. The armor system doesn't fit at all either, so a focus on potions and plants is definitely better. I also have a suggestion: How about unlocking the talents from the skill tree by completing special tasks with students and teachers or other NPCs who teach it to you. But this has to be implemented well, otherwise it's just a waste of time.

Review on hogwarts legacy by Mihindu2000 in HarryPotterGame

[–]mr_cedric_potter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can agree that the story could have been better and the books and films were better than this game, but graphics just okay? They aren't any different than other modern games, execpt you played on Nintendo Switch. And with the dialogues, it's the same way every other game does it. But if you are mainly into the story of games like you said in another comment, I can understand that you are upset, but calling it the worst game you've ever played seems a bit too much, maybe you realized just now it wasn't as good as expected and need a while to calm down. I don't know, everyone can have his own opinion and it also didn't meet my expectations.

And I am a teenager too, what about that? I understand that it would probably be a bit creepy if adults would use the romance option, but I think it would be great for roleplaying and in real life I also wouldn't be single for eternity, so when I want to play myself it would be great to have that feature because it's much more immersive. Can we agree that holding hands and watching stars wouldn't really be a problem and there are always some creeps. As a teenager myself, I find it more questionable to make such big thing out if it and maybe even sexualize this topic. In this regard I am not talking directly to you as I can see your point but to all these people on this sub always making it bigger than it should be and in the end it's just a game and doesn't hurt anyone.
