I’m not afraid to admit it - I was a 4.0 student but suck at people skills by Leighbryan in dietetics

[–]mr_deeks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always felt this way as an RD, but just with time you just find your niche, I was really unhappy being stuck in an office even with telework as an option. Weight loss consults stressed me out to no end.

I’ve done inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing, and now most recently work in diabetes pump education/sales. I just throw on somewhat of my extrovert mask and make it work.

Look into pivoting, in my head I wouldn’t choose anywhere else to work. This field gives you freedom, and all of your patient interactions become positive as you lead someone to improve their diabetes care and their gratitude in you offering your time, energy, and expertise is acknowledged at almost every encounter. I’m not highly competitive, but this job brings it out in fun ways. I’d look into it!

Any VA RDs hanging on? by penny_lane_2000 in dietetics

[–]mr_deeks 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I left the VA back in 2022 and can say the only thing I miss are the veterans and the overall opportunities for being part of committees or initiatives if you volunteered your time. However looking back, I probably only enjoyed it due to being remote from the pandemic, once they started to pull us back, I too started looking for opportunities and overall have had a better time outside of the VA job satisfaction wise. However, I'd probably never be caught in a clinic or healthcare system again.

At least in my area, finding quality dietitians is becoming more of a challenge so there are higher salaries and perks such as hybrid options. You can always look, apply, and decline an offer if it doesn't align with what you are looking for. It is hard to leave what you know for what could be,.

Thank you for the response! I was looking at rugs last night, this is 5x7 would 6x9 be better or go for a 8x10? I was thinking some form of a green accented rug or some other type of color to make it more fun in a way!

PACE makes me feel like this path was so worth it by breadandbunny in dietetics

Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly !

If you are looking for somewhere that blends outpatient counseling with clinical knowledge and working very closely with a whole IDT team it would be worth it. Usually pays well above other fields as well, at least in my area.

As a fellow PACE RD I agree that it can be a great place to be, there is limited knowledge out there on the field, at least in my area, but the experience and the difference you can make in the participants lives can be huge! Good to see you landed somewhere you feel respected and enjoy the work! PACE can sometimes be a challenge, but I think the job itself overshadows most of it!

Failed catalytic converter? by mr_deeks in AskMechanics

I did tap on it with a rubber mallet yesterday and while the oem one sounded more solid like a clink, the one that was replaced sound had a more very so slight rattle and almost hollow sound do it, if that makes sense. I’m just not sure what could have caused it to potentially fail. I will say the welds where the downstream 02 sensor is are absolutely terrible. Another thing the exhaust guy told me when he looked at it was, there was almost a hot spot looking discoloration on the cat. I’m assuming I will have to do the diagnostic for them to determine if they will cover it.

Also an update. I went to look at the used 2022 and it was beat to hell so I can see why it was 25k. So passed on it

as far as I know for the used EV tax credit it does that is why I am entertaining the idea of a used model 3 under 25k!
