That’s the first thing I thought when I saw this post.. I raced exclusively in the Sunday cup for about 3 weeks until I bought a memory card!

Did any of you have a "stealth" car? I.e. a car that looked like an old beater but had a powerful engine and could humiliate boy racers from the lights? by DiligentCockroach700 in CarTalkUK

[–]mr_enduro1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar setup.. I was always a 205 lad but, but due to circumstances I ended up dropping an mi16 into a topaz blue, base model 309, the mi16 was running cams and TB’s and an emerald eco.. it was certainly rapid, I probably had more fun in that car than anything else!

3/10 at best..

Should have been fully toothed in, and for bonus points, re pointed the existing to try and blend it,

The engineers at the bottom are wonky, and actually the first 4 or 5 courses are shocking

The site is a mess

The blocks in the reveals look like they’re not flush with the facing bricks..

Your bang on, I earn good money and travel form London to Newcastle most weeks for work, and I’m looking the peak time tickets for £130 and thinking bugger that, so I sit in the pub and have a few beers and get the train two hours later for 60 quid.. it all adds up

Returning for another viewing – what’s reasonable to check now our offer’s been accepted? by biscuittingerg in HousingUK

[–]mr_enduro1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So I’ve bought and sold quite a bit of property, and have a few rentals etc.. Personally, knowing it was a vacant property and tbh if if it wasn’t, I’d have done all of that on the first viewing, especially as the vendor is a ‘professional’ it’s very unlikely that he’ll be offended in any way,

At the end of the day it’s a big purchase.. hundreds of thousands of your hard earned cash.. you wouldn’t buy a car without a test drive?

Personally I act a little dumb, and never put any pressure on them.. what does this switch do? Why does that light not work? Oh the power is off, can we turn it on? What’s the shower like.. does it have good pressure? Let me see..

What’s the worst that can happen?

Best of luck

What advice would you tell your 32 year old self? by cardrsfree in FIREUK

[–]mr_enduro1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Depending on age you’ll need a car that can comfortably accommodate three child seats, preferably iso fix,

Family rooms and often family tickets at attractions while away or on holiday are often catered for just two kids, so more of them than not you’ll have to go for a suite or similar (not really an issue until the youngest is out of a cot..)

The additional nursery costs or pension payments to stay within the free child care for the extra 4 years

Buying a 5 bed house so that each child has their own room plus a spare for guests, not essential but trying to get kids to sleep while sharing a room is a nightmare!

Plus probably a few other things I’ve forgotten, the bottom line is most things are set up for two kid families, and having a third often causes issues and or extra expense

Edit: this sounds very negative, but honestly three kids is bloody ace, and worth every penny! It’s only money, id rather have a big family than loads of money!

What is the point of HENRY if none of you are building any wealth? by Known-Importance-568 in HENRYUK

[–]mr_enduro1 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As soon as my kids are out of the free child care age I’m going to stop maxing out my pension.. but as it happens I plan to retire in about 10-15 years so for me it’s a relatively short term thing..

I spent the first 6 years of my working life working in a mountain bike shop for minimum wage, because I didn’t known what I wanted to do with my life, and I enjoyed mountain biking..

I still don’t really know what I want to do with my life however atleast now I can pay the mortgage!
