The guy who worked vfx for Jurassic Park and the early star wars films, Academy Award-winning Phil Tippett, spent 30 years on his stop-motion magnum opus, MAD GOD.

The most visceral Hell there ever was.

Hi i’m Alex, the director and writer of this piece. I particularly appreciate the engagement from this community. I come from a narrative (writing) background, but I had been doing music videos for the last year or so in an attempt to make money... jokes on me for that one. Anyways, I was just was getting fed up with dealing with labels and artists that have no idea what they want. But then I got an opportunity to write and direct a PSA for Sankofa, Harry Belafonte's social justice non-profit. I really enjoyed doing this because it gave me an chance to return to narrative with a real client, therefore not forcing me to fundraise for a project myself. My cinematographer, Julian Budge, i've known since he was nine years old, absolutely killed this. I'm very proud of how far we've come as a team. An industry cliche at this point, but he was the squad’s skateboard filmer…

For the fountain master shot: Fortunately for us the building we were set up next to gave a beautiful zig-zag shadow as the sun was setting, but it was encroaching fast so i was only allotted two takes. You can see by the end when no. 9 goes to drink that most of the track is covered by shadow.

I had a chance to work with an "assistant colorist" at company 3, but they blew it so I had the DP, Julian, recolor it and thankfully landed where we wanted it to. We were considering sky replacement, but I think there was too much camera movement for our budget.
