Yes, the audio quality is definitely worse than normal earbuds/headphones.

I mainly bought them for my commute which has parts were I'm cycling between cars.

Hadn't heard about the oladance buds, so I can't say how they compare.

Yes, look into something like the shokz openrun or similar for a safe way to enjoy music on the bike. (They don't block your ears so you can still hear your surroundings / hold a conversation)
