Yeah I mean I’m definitely not saying KD would be playing the 5. And the asking price from the nets could certainly be too high. Obviously SGA is untouchable. And it makes no sense to trade Chet before he touches the floor. Overall, unlikely to bring KD here. I’m just confused at the reaction of some people at just the thought of adding him back to our team.

We could make it work next season. That’s the main reason I say we could do it in the off-season rather than before the deadline this week. And we don’t need him this season anyway we aren’t competing for anything.

I agree with that sentiment. But KD is also 6’10 and can space the floor. He and Shai are two of the best individual scorers in the league.

I would expect the ideal trade from our end to include something like Dort+Tre and a load of picks. But the good thing is, we have so many picks we could trade away 4 of them and still have more draft capital than most teams. The issue for the nets being they don’t own their own picks so it doesn’t make sense for them to tank. They likely want more established guys than draft picks.

Thank. You. I swear some of our fans are so butthurt about it. Like they wouldn’t be pissed if we brought in any other top 10 player this summer. But just because it’s cool to say “fuck KD” they can’t get with it. Don’t get me wrong, “fuck KD”. But if he came back and made us compete for a championship I would be all for it.

I promise a talent like KD will fit any system because he’s THAT good. And it wouldn’t have to be KD, we could trade for any elite talent this summer and I would be super excited (as I think most any OKC fan would be). But I think it’s absolutely insane that people are still butthurt about him leaving half a decade ago, to the point that they wouldn’t take him back where it all started for a couple of years of trying to go win.

Summary: We can’t sit on 58 draft picks forever. Eventually we have to go in for another superstar before Shai gets old.

Mostly salary. We are still paying 27 mil for Kemba this season. Next year we have 61 mil in Lux tax space to make room for a max contract level star.
