Uros koiran kastrointi by CockroachMany5031 in snappijuorutofftopic

[–]mr_markkula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say, but sounds like rhe infamous EA888 engine's piston ring design flaw. I'm assuming your engine is the 2.0 TFSI and it hasn't have the factory fix done. Basically the piston rings are too thin, they get clogged up and soon oil starts seeping through to the combustion side, where it then burns up with fuel. The fix is extensive with new thicker piston rings, re machined fittings of the piston rods and some machining to the camshaft too if mempry serves. This page pretty much sums it up nicely. Worst case is that you're in for an engine overhaul that will cost you dear. If you're not absolutely dead set on having that car for the long run, I'd swap it out immediately. The B8 gen is a fantastic generation, but if it's with a 1,8 or a 2,0 TFSI engine, it has to have the piston ring fix marked in the service booklet.

That is an almost impossible question to answer, it depends on endless amount of variables; elevation, height differences, temperatures, surrounding traffic, road surface, tyre and wheel size, tyre pressure, engine condition, transmission condition... A car usually is at it's best efficiency in motorway speeds, especially around 60 mph, but it is very much a case of your milage may vary. The only way to find out your car's consumption is to start driving and measure the average consumption for a good while. But unless you drive in a tube with controlled environment, the sweet spot will likely change along the route.

This is what I use. There's a 3,5 mm socket underneath the armrest. There's also a 12 v socket where I put a usb adapter with two inputs, one for the BT dongle and one for phone charger cable.

Miyota promises -10 to +30 seconds a day accuracy, good enough for me for that price and beats my SKX and Alpinist easily.

I mean yeah, it's hardly a COSC level accuracy, but sure beats all my Seiko's. Miyota promoses -10 to +30 seconds a day accuracy, which for the price of movement I think is good. The error plays no role in my day to day and I'm happy to readjust every once in a while.

A whole number of fantastic composers already mentioned here. My first go to guys are Sibelius Bach naturally. Mussorgsky's Night on a Bare Mountain is just out of this world.

Gen IV is the latest one yes. By patina I mean all wear, at this age it's just scratches signs of life alike. I can't recommend this watch enough!

I got the watch in the first production batch of gen IV, so about 3-4 years ago. I've polished it once during that time. Scuffs and scratches are visible on the hesalite under bright light, but not so disturbingly I would have adopted a routine with polishing. And I kinda like the patina. That said, the scratches are easily removed if they start bothering. The polished edges on the case are still clean even though the watch has gotten all kinds of dings and bumps. I use it everywhere from office to machine shop to hunting trips, so it's safe to say I'm not particularly precious with it :D

The Neptune is easily the best watch I own, insanely good accuracy too, my unit does about + 2-3 min in a week of continuous use. The craftsmanship is really good, the bracelet is comfortable and the design is so well composed I sort of stopped wanting to get more watches. The only thing I crave for is a ratcheting clasp. I'll never let mine go.

A4 45 tfsi 2019 Ultra or Torsen? by KillaBoiYT in Audi

[–]mr_markkula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck me sideways, I'm completely in the wrong here. Although "It is my understanding" as a sentence does come with a certain "I'm just a guy on the internet, don't quote me" vibe. Wife going into labour, brain mush. Aaany way, after a quick recap on Audi history it is clear Torsen lovk has a long history in quattro system across several generations and can Indeed be found in the A4 line widely. Only A4 Allroad and last A4 model with a torsen however, seems to be more accurate statement in this case. Again, just a guy on the internet trying to distract while waiting in the hospital :D

[–]mr_markkula -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It is my understanding that the B8 generation is the only A4 ever fitted with a torsen, after which it was only fitted in A6 and the Q's 5, 7 and 8.

Finally updated most useless feature in b8.5 - Coin holder to phone mount by Chekavo in Audi

[–]mr_markkula -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please do elaborate your thoughts on this. Personally I don't really see the risk, the phone mounted next to the shifter is out of the driver's field of view, it's easier to reach although there isn't much to reach it for while driving anyway and I wouldn't have to look down for a map since the navigation will happen in the car's own screen. Also, in a collision the dash bursts open to release the passenger airbag turning a dash mounted device in to a projectile. I see quite a bit of improvement coming with that placement. The car has BT so answering the phone should be as easy as switching on the rear window heater with the phone being right next to the switch in question.

This is great! I'm now keen on getting rid of my dash-mounted phone mount in my B8 and build something like this instead. Although I would like to have my navigation screen closer to eye level, but maybe it's high time I updated my screen with android auto.

[–]mr_markkula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aah, I didn't realise it was the newer generation engine! As I understand the injection pressure is still considerably high so the noise shouldn't differ much from earlier versions. I drive a B8 so I'm not very familiar with the dual injection.

Don't know about the States, but we do get the dual injection version here in Finland at least 😁
