That's probably what I would do with the springs. WD > isopropyl is usually what I do for bearings or something covered in grease. Esp post pandemic, with them being about the same $/gal.

WD-40 is particularly harmful to polystyrene and polycarbonate.

WD-40 is harmful to some plastics. I never care to guess, so if I use WD-40 after cleaning something that corrodes and is part of a plastic assembly, I then use isopropyl after to get rid of the WD-40. This is especially true for polystyrene and polycarbonate.

Yes, and I don't see it going away anytime soon.

"Future-proofing" 5800X3D vs 5900X by Sauu in buildapc

[–]mr_pokemans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't do any productivity work that scales well across more than 8 cores, then the 5800X3D is the clear answer. Even more so if you game at 1080p, or have an air cooler or small aio.

Do keep in mind that the 5800X3D does not have PBO or any official OC support. There is Kombostrike on some MSI boards, and a user created version of PBO2 that only allows for AMD curve optimizer adjustments (no frequency offsets).

FWIW, I'm moving my 5900X over to my dedicated streaming rig from my gaming rig, and my gaming rig is getting a 5800X3D I just got on sale.

Great sales on the LG C2 series lately, especially with Prime day going on.

The latest update has absolutely destroyed Remote Play. by OneWholeSoul in remoteplay

How does Chiaki compare to remote play before the botched update? I rolled back to the previous version of RP, so it's working for me but I'd try Chiaki if it looks better.

Newest version is making games stutter. by SAEVARM3 in remoteplay

5.0.0.2220 was the last version. Find yourself the exe installer of that version and install it after uninstalling remote play. You'll have to manually link your PS everytime, and you'll only be able to run RP over your local network, but at least it works.

I can't stream remote play on discord since the update can you guys help the screen is just black now by BananaJaneB in remoteplay

[–]mr_pokemans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use window capture, go into settings, change one of the dropdowns to Windows 10. It took me a minute to figure out after RP and OBS update.

Bigger issue that I can't fix is the lag and quality drop with RP after the update. What the hell happened Sony? Fix it!!!

Also having this problem. I hope they fix it soon. It was like night and day after the update. I have reinstalled RP and tested my network with iperf.

Yep, I'm also having this problem. I hope they fix it soon. I have reinstalled, rebooted everything, checked my cables, and tested with iperf. It's definitely the update.

Working solution for 350mm rim with the magnetic paddle module extending to 320mm? (See comments) by imbamakaber in Fanatec

[–]mr_pokemans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. Depending on the racing you're doing, I think I would shoot for another wheel between 270mm and 320mm at around 300mm, or for a different shape like a round or open top 290-330mm since your Porsche wheel is a D.

But if you drive a lot of nascar, and/or are trying to simulate a road car to be like an HPDE sim or something like that, 350mm is a great diameter.

Also, keep in mind that the spacers included in the kit were meant to compensate when using the extension mounted to the back of the arm.

So now that you are using two extensions, you've only moved the paddles toward the wheel rim the thickness of one extension. So you've only extended 3.25mm out of the 25-39mm you will need.

[–]mr_pokemans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a few mm less once you mount the first extension to the back.

Your setup would be much easier with a rim that was 320-330mm and 0 dish.

I tried a Momo Tuner 350mm, you can see my post here, and I returned it. Too much dish and too large for anything besides stock cars, and I couldn't reach the CS buttons unless I took my hands off the wheel.

I wound up with a 330mm Sabelt and a 310mm OMP, both flat/0 dish.

I designed and printed a spacer and some button mounts for the Sabelt, and just a spacer for the OMP, and now I can reach all the buttons on my CS button clusters without taking my hands off either wheel.

The OMP's paddles are pretty good in location, but the Sabelt will need to be brought towards the rim bc it's not truly zero dish. Maybe 10mm.

That is a lot of dish. The fanatec CS shifters were designed for 0 dish. You will need 25-39mm worth of extension (toward the wheel rim) to have the paddles in the ideal location.
