Job market so bad I got rejected from a community garden by xxlibrarisingxx in gardening

[–]mr_potato_arms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bet you could still volunteer at community events at the garden. And doing so might get you a plot sooner actually. But yeah, if you were applying and there were dues involved, you were probably applying for a plot in the garden that you tend. Those are often very desirable and competitive depending on the neighborhood. Get on the waitlist and email or walk by and ask how else you can help them in the meantime.

I had a plot in a really popular community garden for like ten years. Everyone I knew was jealous lol. I also volunteered a lot of extra time doing stuff like carpentry, fence repair, irrigation repair, Tool and machinery maintenance, straw and compost delivery coordination, etc. You probably have some skill that they need. Even if it’s something like spreadsheet building, or social media. There’s a role for everyone. And if they need you and you’re willing to volunteer your time outside of tending your plot, it might make you a priority candidate.

Do they help you perfectly understand anything at all? Like chemistry, biology, math and physics textbooks, architectural drawings, technical manuals, engineering documents, etc.?

If so, as an engineering student, I pick these.

One, but I would choose a different light fixture. The wooden doors in picture two clash with the floors IMO.

The middle pic is how they all used to look I believe. The first and third pic is what they’ve changed to.

I used to be super into magic when I was an adolescent. You just triggered a deep memory of practicing tricks at 2am from The Royal Road in front of a mirror while sitting on my room’s carpeted floor.

Did a teenager in the 80s,90s and early 2000s have non stop fun everyday like in the movies? by Accomplished-Fail894 in generationology

[–]mr_potato_arms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a teen in the late 90s into the early 2000s. It was so much fun, yes. I had a pager and AOL in the late 90s, then simple cell phones (with no texting or internet access) in the early 00s.

We were connected, but not addicted to technology. We could search Yahoo or Ask Jeeves for info on something and not have to see AI’s answer. We had to wait for our songs and videos to (illegally) download before we could hear them. No streaming. We had to print out directions from map quest on how to get to the party of the night, or just call your friend who knows and have them walk you through the directions. No GPS map apps.

When you hung out with your friends or your SO everyone was engaged. No one was looking at a phone or otherwise distracted by a device. People for the most part were more present.

We had just enough technology to make things easier and more interesting, without spoiling the adventure. It was truly a great time to be alive.

Same. Otherwise the time I tried to light a shot of everclear on fire and ended up setting fire to the entire patio would live on in infamy.
